Saint, sinner, shoosh

Sydney Roosters prop Terrell May has held talks with St George Illawarra and Canterbury — and will meet the Wests Tigers next week — as he mulls over a change of clubs. ( No mention of eels interest)

SHOOSH
Which club is on the verge of announcing a unique major sponsorship?
SHOOSH II
Which former high-ranking NRL executive has inquired about joining the board of the Wests Tigers as an independent.
SHOOSH III
Which club is trying to medically retire a player – with just one big catch … the player wants to play on.

Think harder about it.

1. If he has a contract, then he can't move unless.....
2. His current club think he isn't worth the contract and....
3. They are willing to chip in/ organise a buyout/ whatever in order to move him along.

Given that Newcastle have given him the green light to move (or he backs up Crossland/ plays reserves)
Given that his contract is up in 2025
Given that he is 28
Given that the salary cap increases every year
Given that Parra has a starting hooker job

A 2 year deal with the Eels for (say) 350-400k per year (with the Knights paying 200k for him to leave - frees up 400k for them) gives him a chance to improve his value the next 2 years (as a starting hooker) and then sign one last contract under a higher salary cap.
If the Knights chip in a substantial amount then our risk is mitigated. My point was why would he move for a substantial paycut while he still has a 650k contract for 2025. The Knights are now pretending they want to keep him via the media. Let's see who is the smarter club. They have Peter Osullivan now so I'm guessing it's them.

Still trying to convince everyone he is unsure how it got in his system as well as the four game ban. Not a big fan. He is quick but has had trouble where ever he has been. Settles down and plays well and then gets injured - Bulldogs were trying to move him on at the end of 2022 and 2023 at one point too. He had issues in Melbourne as well.

I hope the club has gone cold to be fair - we have recruited some speed and have some young blokes returning with speed.

Need another backline utility player and a hooker before JAC.
I've been on the fence with this one. If he's approved to play by the NRL and the price is right then I'm willing to support a two year deal. He's still got plenty to offer as a winger and we need what he has to offer. But, considering his past indiscretions I'd expect some sort of 'don't f**k this up' clause in the contract.

Let's give a player with an extensive injury history a three year deal and a PO....

Smart stuff
We might only need him for two years but he is 29 next year. Nobody wants to be on the market after turning 30 so he will treat this as his last big contract. Our need for one or two years must be balanced against his need for five (or more) years. Even a five year contract would see him only 33 at the end of it, and probably on the scrapheap. I'm sure he would be willing to forego some money per-year to get extra years of certainty in even a three year deal.

I'm not on the Brailey train thus far. Nobody on here is excited about the possibility of him becoming an Eel. Another example of shopping at Blacktown Drive-In Sunday Markets.
We already have some big money players in the squad, especially in the spine. They can't all be stars.

Personally, I'd rather chase the Cheese. I can feel it in my man cave.
