Context: Shaun Lane is under contract for 2025 and then has a MO.

==================

There's good news on the horizon for the Eels, with star forward Shaun Lane close to signing a new deal with the club.

The 29-year-old forward comes off contract at the end of next season but is happy with life at Parra and is likely to extend for at least another 12 months.

Lane was a shining light in a disappointing Eels side in 2024, playing every game for the club and creating plenty of opportunities for his outside men with his wide running and clever off-loading.

This article way back said that we signed Lane until 2026. However it seems that was never the case. It was until 2025 and a MO for 2026.

Now it looks like we (both) have agreed to that one year extension.

I wish the roster shake up would start to make some sense.... as for him being a shining light??? If he was my son he'd get yelled at for not keeping it still...

TBF I thought he was much better through the middle than on the edge last year. Ryles obviously sees him as a player he can improve.

My brother lived in Japan for 6 months before covid had to bring him back reckons its a beautiful country would love to go eventually.

Rugby League is a better game overall then the dribble 15 man code that the Japanese follow.

Asia should be a market the game should be targeting for more growth imo.

Having a roster shake up was needed after the last few years, however it would be more than sensible if somehow the genius in the club actually signed decent replacements for those leaving. Realise that they need to complete the roster, so guess we have to sit back and wait, if they can manage to sign them so they can enter pre season training, that would be handy.

No excuses at the new Tigers
I heard the other day the tigers banned some members on the board entering the premises from entering the leagues club.

You couldnt make that shit up seriously.

Have you guys got the Roy Spagnolo template on how to control the board room.

Think it’s been satisfactory so far , so 6/10.

There now needs to be a serious move on close to elite signings given the supposed amount of cap we have available to fill the gaps and roster numbers. The blame is apportioned mostly to R&R to get those things done, hopefully Ryles can provide good communication with both players managers and players as a start.

You sure thats true? Like really sure?

You sure its not board members of Holman Barnes group (an entirely different entity)?

You sure its not board members of an entity that has been expunged from the Wests Tigers board and replaced with independent members?

He had a great year in 2022. 2023 and this year were abysmal in comparison. He looked ok through the middle but still lacked speed which if we are using that as a guide was what the club was looking to recruit which is why him staying makes little sense. Sure we need to have a variety of players but letting go Sivo and keeping Lane seems at odds with what they are doing....
