I wasnt old enough to see that game.I probably lost the last strand of hair after the 98 Semi against the dogs.
John Simon shat his dacks that last 10 mins as well.I wasnt old enough to see that game.
But been told numerous time the name Paul Carige has a lot to answer for.
Thought the effort was good. We didn't fold once we were behind by 40. We really stuck it to them and only lost 62-24. So we won the second half. It's a good sign going into next weekStill less painful than an Bea Arthur press conference.
"We were our own worst enemy, and we need to fix some things up for next weeks game and play our style of footy"Thought the effort was good. We didn't fold once we were behind by 40. We really stuck it to them and only lost 62-24. So we won the second half. It's a good sign going into next week
How do you know it wasn’t the players? The coaching system was a failure
That’s where every team concedes the most. Or do you think wingers score the most tries because they’re the best players ffsespecially the wide defensive structures.
Fixing the issues might mean replacing players that are more influential at the club than the coach. It’s not the military, it’s an organisation that sells entertainment and the most important people in the organisation are the star entertainers.Even in 2022 season teams like Souths embarrassed Brad's defence and he's never fixed the issues.
It proves no such thing. Twelve games proves nothing at all. Have a look at Bellamy’s Origin record; 2 from 9. Does it mean he can’t get teams up for big games? We all know his Origin sides were usually outclassed, and so it was for Brad Arthur, with 6 of 12 finals matches coming against the Storm or Panthers.Brad was just an ordinary coach, who got along well with the players who tried hard for him, but when the shit hit the fans- brad had no answers. His 30% finals record proved that ba was a very ordinary coach.
He’s only ever had bum teams in the finals. Why should we have beaten any of the better sides? They hardly ever lose to bum teams like ours, and when they do, it’s because they had an off day and their opponents got them at a lucky time. We didn’t have that luck, though we came close in 2017 and 2021.He's only ever beaten bum teams in finals games, and had one good win against the cows who've done nothing since.
Players win big games, not coaching genius. Look at Brian Smith. Wayne Bennett himself said his game plan at Brisbane could’ve fit on a beer coaster. Coaching isn’t about tactical f**kery, it’s about developing and preparing players.Brad's efforts based collision based style was never going to win huge games.
It works for Bellamy. Also the bs plan he had in relying on nuffie rejected players hogging development positions in reserve grade was ridiculous.
It’s his job to maximise the chance of winning, not use first grade as an arena for managers to spruik their players to the Tigers and Bulldogs. It was all planned by arthur to buy him time, as in his eyes risking developing players in first grade may have cost him his Job.
He adapted after 2018 and he would’ve adapted after 2024. We were already looking to replace Gutherson at the back, and we signed Lomax before Arthur’s was rissoled.I'd say the game changed and BA failed to adapt.
Which is why we signed him at the last minute, as a backup. He was behind Sivo, Simonsson, Penisini, Russell and after a few rounds Talagi had also jumped him. Harper didn’t stop anyone getting a run. He didn’t even stop anyone getting a contract.More mobile forwards became the new metric and we had the big, slower forwards. Also he had huge holes in the roster where the priority was the forwards at the expense of the backs. The backs were so neglected that he bought Morgan Harper in which everyone knew was a poor player.
I agree our defence should improve, considering how poor it was this year. Also the roster had huge holes such as insufficient backs, insufficient speed and no cover for several positions such as fullback, winger, centre and the halves (did I miss any position?).
With Ryles that has been corrected with coverage for ALL positions along with speed. Defence is now a priority and hopefully manifests itself on the playing field. Fix our defence and we become competitive and with our ball playing forwards we should be very good in attack. Due to the above I highly doubt we'll be poor next year (hopefully).
The grass is definitely greener! It’s very exciting.I cant wait for Ryles era to officially start.
You can already feel the buzz talking to other Parra fans even outside of this forum how pumped everyone is for a big season.
The sun is slowly peaking through those gloomy clouds that have been hovering over for a while.
While there was sadness & disappointment of losing Gutho & RCG who are club legends i think the positive & ruthless decisions made will make stronger long-term.
I never thought one of the dumbest front rowers i saw play in the mid-2000s could be the coaching saviour for this great club.
I know everything ffsYou really know nothing.
the squad is different and poised for success BECAUSE of the change in coach.
Only an imbecile would deny that - I don't believe you are an imbecile but you appear determined to out yourself as such.
Beer is the opiate of the masses.Spoken like a barstool conservative.
We knew what his best position was, but Dylan Brown was already playing there.Imagine having a bloke at the club from Harold Matthew’s and after 4 or 5 years not having a clue where his best position was??
Dumber than spit and we made him a multi millionaire, what does that say about us!?
Apart from Arthur, we’ve kept all the ones we can fit into first grade. Or should we have arseholed Moses and Drown so we could keep Sanders/Talagi? The point is to win games not develop the most juniors. Your club knows well that pathways investment doesn’t guarantee NRL success. The real trick is fitting the merkins under the salary cap; something only the Panthers, Roosters and Storm have mastered. These players are in high demand from a very young age these days. There’s no secrets in junior recruitment any more.Tigers definitely have their faults. We should probably base our model off the highly successful Parramatta one. Hows the core of your 2023 SG Ball winning side coming along? That Talagi, Sanders and Arthur looked great.
If you saw us this year without him you’d know he is worth every penny. Unless he has become injury prone in his old age, in which case he is worth f**k all. Are we a club that can afford to not take that risk?If you add what the Tigers are paying for Galvin and Sullivan, its about 50% of what you are paying for old Mitchy Moses......now THAT is funny.
We will never know.Paying Sullivan $700k is f**king mental, is that genuinely what he was on?
The problem is that you have to spend a particular amount of the cap and have a certain number of players on the books. It means you can’t just hold out for players who will sign at reasonable prices. You have to sign 28 players by a certain date and you have to spend ~$11M on them. And to top it off you can only choose from the players that are available and you have to do it in blind auctions with other clubs all trying to meet the same requirements. It means once your roster is f**ked it is very difficult to get it unf**ked. That's the issue you don't just throw cash at players as their isn't a better option available at the time ..
According to some merkins it’s how we ended up second. That's how you end up last
This is a fair. Name (or describe) two different game plans in the game. Nobody can. It is all the same. There is no variety in RL.Criticise Arthur’s for that, but you f**ken nerds are overstating the importance of the tactical side of the game. It’s a simple game played (and watched) by dumb merkins. There’s no room for elaborate tactics. You’ve obviously watched Mighty Ducks too many times.
