That all started when Pou tried to us all we had less resources than Manly or the Sharks. Which just might be a stupidly hyperbolic statement as you put it??

And I think it’s more than just us 3 that like to bring it up, most people are sick of the Pou misinformation all bar the Huggy committee.

We have less resources than the likes of Melbourne and Penrith. I reckon the Sharks might have more resources than us too. We are about equal to Manly these days, though they were obviously better resourced during Hasler's first stint there. I reckon Penn tightened the purse strings when he bought out the other owners though.

Salary cap always bites after a bit of success. 2007 to 2009 we did fairly well and unearthed a few youngsters. The salary cap doesn't make it easy to keep them all. Even Penrith has shed plenty of talent these past few years. The difference is they have a conveyor belt of new talent who all seem happy to bide their time in reserve grade, unlike all our little mercenary merkins. Plus they still manage to keep plenty of their top 17. These merkins all were in the top 17 from 2021 to 2024:

why do you think other clubs do better with keeping juniors, you are right our youngsters tend to be mercenary merkins .

do you think it has been due to lack of community involvement from the NRL side and they have not established any bonds and do you think this may change under ryles

I’m not clicking that link Casper, Manly play out of a cow paddock and the Sharts home ground holds 12k.

We have one of the best rectangular stadiums in the country, a centre of Baldness and one of the biggest junior bases in RL. Let alone one of the biggest fan bases, but but but Manly and the Sharts lol.

The eels must have close to the best "one team town" type set ups going around.

A great stadium right in the heart of a cool little city and really good PT (now).
