@hindy111 while you were in Japan with the ravens i posted this in december in regards to BA v Smith.Spot on with everything you say here.
Our defence had been in decline since 2021. But the amount of times we capitulated under BA was infuriating and never got addressed.
We conceded 40 points 23 times under BA an average of once every 11.47 games during his tenure so that's on average twice a season we had 40 put on us.
And we also got pumped by 30+ point losses on 21 occasions so basically the same average as the 40+ points in a game
It simply isn't acceptable under any coach.
Our overall PPG in Defence in 264 games under BA was 21.26. Which isnt good enough to win a premiership.
I'll compare that to Brian Smith who had a similar tenure 243 games we conceded 40+ points on just 9 occasions.
And it wasn't until 2003 for it happen the first time which was Brian's 168th game in charge.
BA already 14 games by then we had conceded 40+ points or more in his first 168 games.
Coach Games Average PPG Conceded Conceded 40+ points Conceded 50+ points 30+ Point losses Brad Arthur 264 21.26 23 6 21 Brian Smith 243 18.53 9 3 7
I would love for you to do a F/A comparison with Ivan Cleary and BA for there first 11 years. Here are some stats for you to play with. I'm certainly learning from you and I agree that point differential tells more about a side then ladder position.
Let's break it down. Here it is. Where we finished on ladder based of differential.
2014 - 11th
2015 - 13th
2016 - 9th
2017 - 9th
2018 - 15th
2019 - 5th
2020 - 6th
2021 - 6th
2022 - 8th
2023 - 8th
2024 - 15th
BA finished with an average of 9.5 across his career.
So Average position is between 8th-9th. That puts him below average.
It also shows that 2022 was a lot of luck. We where the 8th best side all year and injuries crippled the better side. Same goes for 2017. I'm glad is used your stats and formulas cause I hadn't realised how LUCKY we got under Bushy.
His TOTAL points differential was -14.
Would you like one for Brian Smith?
*JFHSame goes for JWH and Nelson.
Nelson got what he deserved missing the grand final. He has been a grub of a player his while career.
*JFH
It’s alright, he doesn’t play for your team anymore, you can say what you really think nowWhat about him? Clean player with 4 titles.
BA you’re fired!!So Brian Smith ended with differential of +1,006
And an average of +111 ( Ironic) a season
I'm not a genius but +1006 vs -14 is a blow out win the Brian.

But but but but Bea Arthur never lost a prelim!!!So Brian Smith ended with differential of +1,006

Yours don't.He never played for Parra. You may need a lie down. Maybe after a rest your jokes might become funny.

I’d have thought after a holiday, you’d come back with more sense of humour (or with humourous comebacks). Must have hit to close to the bone.He never played for Parra. You may need a lie down. Maybe after a rest your jokes might become funny.

And you are a very big deal in here mate. This forum is serious business
I too would like it to be. What are your thoughts on the Brandon Smith rumour? This forum is serious business
Hence why we'll need to pay Moses at least $1.5m per season from 2027.The other thing I’ve been thinking about is the future of halves and I don’t just mean ours.
Does it feel to anyone else that we’re about to enter a real dearth of halves. Regardless of how you feel about them, DCE, Reynolds, Keary, Foran, Johnson, Choady, even The Chad are all going to retire (you assume) in the next year or so. It’ll be a chunk ok skilled players (& salary cap) all going at once, and other than a couple here and there, it doesn’t seem like they’re being replaced.
