Rumours and Stuff

.
I never check stats untill I've watched game and I like to guess who performed well prior. Sometimes the stats suprise me to the game I watched.

What stats don't show is clutch moments. I mean scoring 2 or 3 tries when down by 40 and the defense is taking it easy just isn't the same as scoring a try to win a game or being down by 14 with 15 to go and still win. This is why TA's or LBAs don't tell the whole story.

And then big games and finals. Another story again. Some players go up a gear while others play worse when pressures on.

This is the reason I don't put to much weight into stats.

Same goes for errors. Was it wet or windy?
Was it a poor pass that was dropped?
Where they on the last play when it was all or nothing?
Was the error when your up by 40 or down by 40 and it doesn't matter?

There is also no stat for a big play defensively. I've seen games where Guthersons done f**k all with the ball but saved 3 almost certain tries and was MOM.
What we have done here is disected what is a simple game and shown how stats are irrelevant in many cases based on time of game, situation, opposition and weather conditions.
All of a sudden statistics alone don't hold much weight. They are great bonus to look at in certain situation but should never be used to tell the whole story.
Exactly. Where you been Mate?

Ya reckon he's the reason the club allowed Boods to leave even though Mrthur held down the Cup 9 jersey over Smith for the entire last season?
I hope he succeeds big time, and comes an NRL player and the hooker we need, but it's not like the eels rate him that highly.

22 years old and the club hasn't offered him a top 30 spots or one of the 6 development contracts. And that's with us only having 2 hookers in the squad.

Additionally there is another 288 nrl spots (top 30 and development) available at the other 8 Sydney NRL clubs, and none have rated him high enough for a spot.

I think the club would have loved to have kept both and made them compete for the first grade gig.

Buuuuuut Smith has been killing it since he got here and I think he may crack the NRL this year the only issue is that Hands will be NRL hooker meaning Guthos brother in Law will be the Hooker in CUP.

Yeah Ryles will give him every opportunity to be our 9 I reckon that's probably why he has been killing it. If he doesn't work out we will be on the lookout..

Btw still only 21!

I don't find the RL gurus takes on the eels to be well informed. I feel like that Tim Williams bloke has a better idea.
His takes on any team aren’t well informed. By the end of each year he’s mentioned half of reserve grade and jersey flegg as being the next best thing. Throw enough darts and eventually you’ll fluke a bullseye
