Whilst this has all been riveting

I would like to get some opinions

where do you think IONGHI will make a big impact for us this coming season
1. Kick return metres
2. Getting us on the front foot on kick returns
3. Middle of the field as support player or running lines
4. Red zone with his speed and running lines as either a threat to unleash brown or take the ball and hit the gap in the line or as link man
5. Will his defence matter given we can assume he won’t be a gutho or his speed will compensate in defence

or anything else you would like to add

You can see when the tries were scored on the main page of each match ffs

Do you think coaches give a rats arse about who puts the ball down at the end of the play? Or would it be how the team got in that position?

Stats are vital but the ones that coaches look at are looking at individual players vo2 max and their output, how many times a player got their spacings right (or wrong) against a certain shape or positioning at the end of a tackle etc etc.

Oh this is a good post!

I think Ryles will try to use our back 3 on start of sets so option 2 will be his main role.

I also think he will link up with Moses and Brown I'm the middle and in the end zone? 2/3

Many moons ago there was the Mick Molloy Show, and Tony Martin did a sketch about living with Jake the Muss (and his extra crusts).
Unfortunately that show, despite YouTube having everything, is lost to all bar my memory

I'd say 1, 2, and 3.

He's quick, but he's not lighting.

However, he is strong, agile, and has fantastic footwork.

He also has some nice skills.

We've got a good one in Iongi.

Yep this is accurate! Do stats tell you when a player misses his mark in defence or gives up closing a hole? Does it tell you how a player chases a kick puts pressure on a kicker ?

All those 1%ers that can mean so much. But yeah tackles made

Boods played 20 games Luke played probably around the same off the bench.not nepotism Jon Boods deserved to be the CUP hooker

What's better for Smiths development what's better for the team?

Let's not forget Hands was playing 5/8 to accommodate someone 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Luke was generally given between 12 to 17 minutes playing time each week if I recall correctly. Boods therefore played 65ish minutes.

I loved Martin Molloy - and that skit was on one of their compilation CDs - I used to have those CDs but sadly they are also gone…

Sure but we're not coaches, we are outsiders discussing the game, and stats are the only objective evidence we have to support our positions.
