Good luck to him if that happens. He didn't seem to be a fit at the Eels, imo.
You know better than the other 15 clubs? You should tell them all how easy it is to build a squad ffsPretty straight forward worked for the Storm...
But Pou knows better than the Panthers and Storm
Because he is off contract and the clauses are likely for unders and he wants more money. Also anyone want to tell me why the club is now trying to get Moses to resign again already and remove his clauses???
We agree on that. This demonstrates the risk or a club when you hand out options to players when they are not elite. I don’t know what Matto is on, so maybe his option +1 value is reasonable. The big issue is how.many the club has handed out at one time. If we had say Ryan matterson only with a PO this offseason, this issue would be a non starter.
It wouldn't matter if they didn't have POs. Drown and Moses were preferred to Talagi and Sanders. That's why we didn't match rival offers. We lost them cause their pathways where blocked by guys with a lot of footy left and long contracts with POs all over the place.
We were smart before, but now we are real dumb just like us dopey fans. Then how come we are the only team in the nrl that does it??
And why have we stopped doing it?
The PO isn't to leave, it's to stay ffsWell we could of given Blaize a PO to leave if Dylan takes his up.
I've answered it for you. We are under less cap pressure since the end of 2022.And how come we haven't offered POs in our last few contracts????
These questions never get answered

Who would you be bending over for?A partially torn ACL does not strengthen your bargaining position. He may not even play much of 26 so Id not be bending over for his manager.

Why are we the only ones doing it? Because someone at the club recognised the theoretical advantage it could give us, while other clubs didn’t recognise it or placed too high risk on it. Or in case of Smugs, don’t change a winning team. Then how come we are the only team in the nrl that does it??

The options add risk. Risk increases randomness, which benefits the underdog in a contest (including the player market). Therefore the top clubs will be more likely to avoid risk, because they have more to lose and less to gain from it.
The Panthers lose players every year but still have four merkins who played Origin in 2024 plus Cleary. They are doing just fine with player retention.
So f**king funnyWho would you be bending over for?
Because they wanted to stay and the club's salary cap was tight. The options at least gave them some long term certainty if they needed it. Look at Haze Dunster. He got an extra year on six figures and in the end it was worth every penny he gave up when he agreed to the option instead of whatever amount he initially wanted before his knee injury. Are we saving money on giving players a PO?
I don't see why a player like Moses or Brown would take less to get a ridiculous player option.
Looks like it to you and the typical rugby league fan. But the bean counters understand contract options just fine. These player options look like we are throwing alot at these players and then giving them the option to piss off of another club comes in and wants to give them even more.
