If Dylan wants 1.25 to walk away from his POs, imagine what Moses is going to want...

There will be a lot more interest in Moses and the POs incentivises him to go to market.

Going to be some tough offseasons, buckle in JR
There's no way Isaac Moses lets him sign his next contract anywhere for less than $1.5m.

If POs were such a no brainer then every club would do them.

But as it stands, the broncos, bulldogs, sharks, dophins, knights, cowboys, panthers, saints, rabbitohs, Roosters and warriors don't have a player with a PO.

Surely the ponessi of the west isn't that good.....

He can, in the sense that he can tell the club, "Offer me $X, because team Y did, or I'm leaving to join team Y."
That's the case with any off contract player, whether they have an option or not.
Options are rather easy to break, if history is any guide.
Because of the option we can't just tell him to f**k off, but there is no need for us to offer him anything better if we don't think he is worth it. If another club thinks he is then they can pay him that and he can leave. Everybody wins.
I like him as a player, but I would like to see the club's culture come first.
Agreed. But if he stays it's for an amount we decided he was worth, not what another club thought he was worth. If he leaves, it's for an amount dictated by another club.

The Ponissi of the south still uses them. How bad can they be?

The difference is players actually want to be at the storm.

This is a copy cat league, if a club finds a competitive advantage. Other clubs are keen to follow.

No body is copying what parramatta is doing, in fact even parramatta is not offering POs anymore. They're negotiating with players to get those options out of their contracts.

They’re negotiating with players because they’re off contract. Whether they offer more POs depends on whether they need them, and whether players agree to them, same as any other club.

And we weren’t the first club to use POs. Welch had one when we signed him then pulled out after he got injured. He activated his PO and stayed at the Storm, long before the rugby league media had found a new way to stir up Eels fans. Now it’s only a problem because the Eels did it. Fire up Eels whingers! We’ve got ad revenue we need to sell.
