I mean, for all you know since 2021 he’s only remembered the name of one team.My old man who has picked the grand final winner 11 years straight has picked us in the top 4......
Could just be luck….

so did you last year
And then you get signings like Sandow on massive coin that Ray Charles could see would be a bad call from the outset.I always thought that decisions were only ever poor (or good) in hindsight.
I disagree. Decision making is a skill. That’s why all the top company leaders get paid the big bucks. They tend to be the best decision makers. The ones who make poor decisions lose their jobs. Not all decision makers are equal. We've discussed this before. They might make poor decisions but us watching at home wouldn't know. When clubs make decisions there is always risk involved. There is always a chance things could go wrong. A signing could turn out to be worth less than he's being paid, for example if he gets injured. Two strong personalities could clash, leading to a lack of unity in the group. All sorts of shit could go wrong, and the clubs know it. But making no decision at all won't lead to success. They need to roll the dice.
If it’s not a skill does that mean anyone can do the job of being a decision maker of a sporting franchise?I always thought that decisions were only ever poor (or good) in hindsight.
You might even say, a resource.Decision making is a skill.
Great post and Murchie was good at Raiders and Warriors playing backrow...the coach killed his value. We also had enough middles instead of trying to turn every forward into bash and barge...Quality coaches can still get there nuffies to perform to the ability or sometimes slightly above there potential with simple roles and a positive mindset to get the best out of them.
Jack Murchie was playing decent footy at the warriors on the edge playing outside Shaun Johnson running into holes.
Hence why i thought we signed him and liked it at the time.
He turned up to Parramatta and BA decides to play him in the middle completely against what his strengths were at the warriors as a player as an edge hole runner with his height and build.
As you can see below 78 games in his career in all grades he started in the back row on an edge out of the 84 in the starting 13
Yet we turn him into a middle forward - dumb coaching and you wonder why some players turn into nuffies when they are played out of there positions of strength by coaches who can't adapt and out of the depth as much as the players.

This confirms what I have heard as well. I know for a fact that at least one senior player that was close with Brad has confirmed that he didn’t realise how much better things would be under a different coach and how much better the systems are…and this player was previously adamant that Brad was the guy to turn things around.
10 min mark and 13 min mark
Carayannis talks about Ryles and the word on the street his coaching and the impact he has had on the group.
Talks about how much the club has changed and how much the players have realised what they were missing out on compared to the old school ways of the previous regime.
Come on mate getting the best out of your players and playing them in their correct roles isn’t the coaches job.Great post and Murchie was good at Raiders and Warriors playing backrow...the coach killed his value. We also had enough middles instead of trying to turn every forward into bash and barge...
Final comment. Being 30 this year he'd want a 3 year contract to secure his future. In fact he got a 1 year contract with the club determining his future for a second year. If in such demand he'd go to a club that offered more, much more. Like other 30 year olds, Gutho and RCG who signed 3 year contracts. In fact we were the only interested party so his contract value plummeted and we were the ONLY lifeline for him to accept.Because he is risky. Not only did he get caught with illegal drugs in his system, but he's only played 29 games in the past two seasons.
Contemplating - actually Ryles said we only signed him because he had worked with him before.Or did we spend the week negotiating?

Pou and Glenneel going back and forth - must be early morning on hereFinal comment. Being 30 this year he'd want a 3 year contract to secure his future. Its amazing how most of us fans could see how stale the joint was 18 months ago and repeated it on here & have unfortunately been proven correct. This confirms what I have heard as well. I can see how this also sounds like confirmation bias, in that this player just supports the system he is in, but for what it’s worth I have heard the player talk about this himself and he cited specific systems, methods, attitudes and drills…and he said the entire squad is noticing the improvements.
Lets hope it reflects on field, but even if it doesn’t immediately translate, this is the reason I believe we are in for longer term sustained success under Ryles.
I really believe that in a few years time parramatta fans will look back on 2024 as the year we had to have to become a powerhouse. Its amazing how most of us fans could see how stale the joint was 18 months ago and repeated it on here & have unfortunately been proven correct.
Lets hope 2024 was the miserable year we had to have to get back on track. We had to lose a few loyal soldiers who put there bodies on the line along the way after finally throwing the coach overboard but short & long term it was for the best.
I think $5.50 is juicy odds for top 4 if we stay healthy and players adjust to Ryles systems quicker then first anticipated.
38 days to go before the Storm clash
Ryles will have them pumped up and ready to go he is relishing the fact we have Melbourne and can be the team to break the hoodoo in Rd 1.
There's your problem right thereCarayannis
He was a quality player before he came to our club. Bennett rated him, Souths wanted to keep him. He had a great running game, and was the best in the NRL at 40/20s. He was a massive talent and worth the risk for a club like ours. And then you get signings like Sandow on massive coin that Ray Charles could see would be a bad call from the outset.
