Next five? We will experience this every time we have players off contract, which is forever. You’ve got a short memory if you think this didn’t happen before the media found out about player options. It’s always been a circus, but now the media wants you to blame the club for it.

The difference is if wasn't a PO we could right now go ok no offers just f**k off and look elsewhere as of last season. I stead we wait like a desperate merkin to see what he decides
He has all the power which isn't what you want.
I'd have a look at Jack Cole.

That’s because you’re looking at it from the perspective of a pissy, vindictive fan who has been shit stirred by the rugby league media. You want him to f**k off. The club doesn’t. That’s why the PO isn’t a problem for the club. They all love him and want him to stay. It’s why they gave him the options in the first place. Or do you still think coaches do all the contract negotiations even after Ryles admitted he has little to do with it?

The circus isn’t having players off contract… it’s having no leverage in the process and an inability to plan. As it stands we don’t know what our roster will look like in 2026 with D Brown , and this time next year we won’t know what it will look like with Moses for 2028. If they both take up their options to stay , as it stands , the merry go round comes around again not long after. We can’t go out and find replacements because they’re under contract. If you don’t think that’s a circus I don’t know what to tell you.

And the circus will continue next off season with Moses, then in the 2027 offseason if Moses activates the PO, then again in the 2028 offseason If Dylan activates the PO.

Why do you think the club is desperately trying to renegotiate these contracts? Why haven't we offered a other PO in the last few signings?

This has been spoken about ad nauseam but we got people telling us it has something to do with insurance... and that the club knows what's it doing... these guys haven't won anything going on 40 years. They're lucky theyre a sports organisation cause if they were a real business. They would have been done for a long time ago.

Murdoch is running paywalled articles re Blaize breaks his silence and some gibber.

Blaize Talagi rejects rumours surrounding his Eels exit

Blaize Talagi knows he caused a stir when he ditched Parramatta to sign with cross-town rivals Penrith. Now the budding backline star reveals why he left – and why he has no regrets.

Your 100% spot on.

While Dylan does the world tour we have our hands tied behind our backs waiting on the decision.

We can't commit ourselves to any replacement as technically Dylan could then say no i am staying.

Its utterly a ridiculous situation and the club deserves all the criticism they get for it.

Its shit business and btw did the POs really drive the price down

Yep shit deal once again if we had given him the November deadline like most players have we may have been able to keep Blaize.
Had time to sign someone else for 2026.
PO are shit and I am sure we won't be doing them again.

If Dyl leaves we will know soon, so if it happens Ryles could turn it into a positive and play him off the bench all year (what a great 14 he could be) give Hawkins and Volkman a crack early to see if they are up to it and if not go all in on getting Wishart on browns money.

You don’t punish a $900k player cos he signed 2026+. You use him in his best position for the benefit of the team in 2025.

I am waiting for Brown to sign a 2-year extension with us and for subsequent years PO's to be removed.
The club will announce Brown has extended until the end of 2027.
Media will announce it as "Brown's contract shortened from 2031 to 2027" and the public, commentators and even this place will go all out on how we had to reduce his contract length to keep him... blah blah blah.

Blaize left. If we knew Dylan was pissing of last November for 26 we could have probably talked him into staying.
The uncertainty of Brown for the next 6 years will prevent anyone wanting to sign as an understudy.
If Dylan was on a vanilla contract and unsigned for 2026, there is no guarantee he would have re-signed or found a home yet.

There are plenty of good players who are still unsigned for 2026.

Probably not but he would because he doesn't have a contract guarantee from us.

2026 like who?

I reckon Dylan will stay with us and Galvin to roosters
I don’t see Dylan working well with walker

I can't see dylan walking away from the sort of contract he signed. Imagine, no matter what happens with form or injury dylan has got his future sorted.

You'd have have to be a special kind of stupid to walk away from that.

It would be no different if they didn't have the clauses. Until they agree to an extension or sign elsewhere, we don't know if they'll still be at the club. Last time Moses was off contract we had to wait until May to find out if he'd be staying: https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2023/05/18/moses-extends-with-the-eels-007/

Dylan Brown has also got until May (round ten starts on the 8th), though if he leaves I'd say we will know long before then.
