For all intents and purposes there's no discernible difference from the clubs perspective. Actually, at worst, the option to stay having a deadline of Round 10 has us over a barrel and unable to have any certainty about future roster mgmt.

No there isn't, but he has been here for two years since he last extended. He is entitled to test the market, and both player and club agreed at the time that he would be. And if he was happy with his PO then we were too. If he wasn't happy with the PO, we were free to offer an upgrade or we could let him walk. We didn't expect any of that would change after only two years, and it hasn't changed.
We gave Moses until round 10 last time (he was announced after round 11), despite there being no PO. We didn't have any certainty about future roster management back then either. The fact is it was our club who agreed to the round ten deadline, and we did it for a reason. We have already accepted these risks that DeaDSHit fans and journos have only just worked out. In exchange for taking these risks and giving Drown the PO to fall back on, he would've given us something in return. That something was him selling himself short financially, which he appears to believe is what happened.
At least he got to the cliff.
