I understand that Matto went to market briefly and got no interest based on his concussion history, so he took up the option to secure himself for 2 more years. Lane has a career planned for beyond footy and always seems to be a little bit laid back so no surprise he took the option as it keeps him settled where he is.
Drown has less after football options available to him and despite what posters on LU think about him, he is talked up pretty high in the football world and barring injury, is the current Kiwi five-eighth. Makes perfect sense that his manager would test the market each and every time his contract comes up.
Also not sure how you get the impression he isn't happy at Parra. Has never said anything other than how much he loves the club and the area and has never personally given any indication that he wants to leave - his manager just wants to make sure he is paid what the market thinks he is worth and is doing his job (and trying to increase his commission).
The media are sensationalising everything because (1) it's Parramatta, (2) it's a boring off-season and (3) it's Parramatta. Don't buy into their crap mate, you are better than that.
I disagree. It isn't like he is on 600k. Word is 900k. His forms been patchy and he also sexualy assaulted a women whilst the club stood by him. It's a great offer.
His manager would know his worth. All 16 other clubs/managers would know he is available for 2026 due to the POs in his contract. It was hardly a secret and any clubs that where genuinely interested would of made contact by now knowing he hasn't activated his PO.
If he is happy at the club which maybe he is 100% then this is just a milking exercise.
People like to say how he only has 10-12yrs to make as much money as he can. While this is true maybe our club should introduce training and preparing for life after footy. Maybe they already do? If not this might be an opportunity for us to take advantage of. A selling point where we will help players return to workforce if are at clubs for 5yrs. Perhaps courses/apprenticeships etc.
