I reckon Dylan will stay.

I don't think any club, including ours, will be brave and/or silly enough to offer him $1 million.

Potentially, he could become a million-dollar player - but he's not there yet.

Do you offer him that, and hope that he becomes one?

I'm happy with how the club has managed it so far - he's a very talented player, but he's not irreplaceable.

Hell, we lost Jarryd freaking Hayne - a generational talent -, and found a pretty damn handy replacement...

We will be fine.

The fact Dyl and his management think he deserves another upgrade from the club on top of the one he will getting after his last 2 seasons shows how out of touch Dyl is.

I have a feeling Ryles might be happy to see the back of him and spending that money elsewhere.
Yep, if he was serious about the club and the fans he would have taken up his clause. The fact he is going to market and expecting a pay rise after the shit he has dished up the last two seasons says plenty about him. The dope is still running around with a partial ACL atm as well.
Yeah this is point where it comes back to Drown for me. If he was legitimately out there because he could get bigger money that’s his prerogative, but from the get go it has just smelled like “hey give us more money or we won’t activate option”, I can’t imagine the option is for same or less and it’s been reported to be a decent payday with then option in future still, so for me after everything that’s occurred since he signed, Drown should be telling Orr to not actively trying to screw us for more money.

Bravo, Eels - I'd prefer he stay, but I like that we are drawing a line in the sand.

Also, "sources not authorised to comment tell this masthead" is the most meaningless sentence I've ever read...if they're not authorised to comment, then their opinion is worthless....

From the article…“The Eels desperately want Brown to recommit but aren’t prepared to offer him more money…”
So we’re only kinda, sorta desperate.

Can someone explain? Aren't they just asking for more money.
The first clause will be automatically wiped if he agrees to stick with Parramatta anyway?

if you check back you'll see his agent was open to dropping the POs if he could blackmail the Eels into paying him more

They're only talking about the first player option which is the one that expires in Round 10. So essentially if he agrees to stay that itself negates the first PO

To put it plainly they are asking for more money to stay at Parramatta. The PO has nothing to do with it.

Dylan and his management are doing exactly what the PO allows them to do. Take their time and explore all possible options for an extension with parra or a new contract somewhere else.

You'd be silly not to.

People around here will say... it's exactly the same a being off contract. But from the clubs point of view, is it?? Maybe Ryles doesn't rate brown as highly as BA did? Maybe Ryles thinks too much money is invested in the halves?? Maybe a young kid is coming through they'd wanna invest in?

Point is Ryles and his team have no control of the roster till these POed players make their decisions. Hopefully if they do move on, there's some talent on the market to replace them.

Justy opinion, but I think Ryles rates Brown highly - most people do, and rightly so.

However, do Ryles, and the club, rate him as a million-dollar player?

I doubt it.
