Please.....you mentioned BA twice:

At the same time, claiming BA passed on him and was focusing on his son......

BA is history....get on the Ryles train.....

Now that's a better post. Yes I am very interested....

As I said. It escalated after some Eastern suburbs outrage. You can go back and read for yourself. After the escalation I made a BA & JA joke. I find it funny. So do many posters.

The correct answer is that everything is an opportunity to criticise the people who get paid to make these decisions. If Talagi kills it this year it’ll be the fault of someone at Parra. If he doesn’t, there will be someone to blame at Penrith. And because most fans don’t know any club official other than the head coach, he’s usually the one to get the blame.

Talagi was not the right fit for a rebuilding Parramatta, despite his obvious talent.

We didn't need to invest further time in a player who - although extremely talented -, is a liability in defence.

We made the right call letting him go, and as I said previously, he could not have gone to a better club than Penrith to unlock his potential.

It was win-win.

But I dare say that had Yeo not been in Penrith's plans, that Hopgood would have stayed, and I dare say that Cleary would have been happy to keep him.

Unfortunately for Penrith (to a degree), and fortunately for us, Hopgood was stuck behind Isaiah Yeo, and was not guaranteed game time because of that; we were able to table an offer with regular game time, and the rest is history.

I do agree that we, as fans, often criticise the coach, because he's the figurehead of the club, and the only person in authority at the club that we see regularly.

But I don't think anyone will be complaining about letting go of Talagi too much - he wasn't the right fit for what we needed heading into 2025.

If he wasn't a good fit or rated we would not of begged him to stay and offered him close to 500k. I dont buy into the bullshit of he wasn't really wanted at Parra or needed.
We wanted him to sign 100%

I am happy with our recruiting tho. Best in years. Also some good forwards coming thru. We'll cruise into the 8

No, I made a joke about you making a Penrith centric post, again. I find it funny. So do many posters.

I listened to the latest Bloke in a bar Podcast today. It’s 7.5hours in total but it’s a full analysis on every team and list.

TBH I listened to the Parra one that goes for about 45min and thought it was a very good listen.

Give it a go and let me know…
Agreed, they had a reasonable view of us this year. Problem is that they never know as much about our team as we do so it can get a bit frustrating when they talk about us normally.

Sure.

But did we beg him to stay at that price because we were desperate to keep him (noting that we did not try to surpass Penrith's offer), or was it more a public relations exercise - "the club can't be seen to afford to lose a promising youngster, let's fight for him."

I'm sure if he accepted a reasonable offer, we would have been glad to keep him.

But the club astutely observed that the work that would need to be put into developing his game was not energy we needed to be focusing on.
