‘I intend to stay here’: Jack Cole throws down challenge to Talagi for Panthers No.6 jersey​

“I’m going to try to stay there,” Cole said.
“That’s the mindset you’ve gotta have. You can’t just be hoping to play one week and then hoping you’re playing the next week. You’ve gotta want to stay there, so I’m going to try to do that.”

It had appeared that Parramatta pick-up Blaize Talagi was earmarked for the five-eighth role following Luai’s departure. However, Talagi has been recovering from a shoulder injury, giving Cole the first chance to cement himself in the position.
“It didn’t really bother me too much,” Cole said of Talagi’s signing.
“I feel like when there’s competition, I do better. We get along really well, so I think it’s been good for the team, it’s been good for me and I’m sure it’s been good for him as well.

“At the start of preseason a few of us got sat down and were basically told there’s a position there, you just compete for it.

I'd imagine Dylan is gone. Mad not to with a 10yr deal on the table.

Being an Eels fan, I'm obviously biased - but I see us as a top 8 team.

And if we miss out, I think we just miss out - 9th, or 10th.

I don't see us as finishing second last.

We have question marks around our pack, but we have a super backline, and quality halves.

Our pack does have doses of quality sprinkled throughout it.

I'm surprised to see so many people confidently claim we will struggle so badly.

I'm not expecting a massive season - we've had a lod of changes.

But the quality in the team is certainly there to cause other teams problems.

Stay for unders or fair market value.

If they stay there staying for the right reasons.

Not just going to the highest bidder.

Ryles is big on getting the environment right where players are happy to be there & everyone feeling that connection with the club.

You can spin all the fairytales all you like about the previous regime but there was never a club first mentality.

It was an us against them or a footy is just a business like attitude.

IIRC Munster & Paps did the same. I think we get caught up in our own bubble sometimes and think that our circumstances are somehow unique.
