I reckon at Moses’ age we were able to bring down the value of the contract to a degree by making it 5 years. He probably would have cost even more if it was only a 2-3 years extension.
I agree 100%. Giving older players longer contracts than what suits the club is a way to reduce their cost in the earlier years, when they are in higher demand. It is effectively backending the contract, as a way to save money in the earlier years. It's a lot like a PO in that sense. The club saves cap space in the earlier years while conceding something in the player's favour later on.

t doesn’t matter what the chairman, CEO or GM say
Not as much as what they do.
they couldn’t possibly know what Pou knows. Pou has said they are just saying that for the media’s benefit and what Pou says overrides what anyone at the club states .

forget that it is the only concrete evidence of what they are doing and even though the clubs very actions with penisini, Moses and brown support the notion that they have abandoned options….none of that matters
If we wanted to remove Drown's 2028 option we would be offering him the upgrade he wants. And how have we removed Moses' option? He is staying for sure now, no matter what happens to his health or form, which is exactly the risk the option represents. And where's the announcement with Penisini?
Take a leaf out of the book of Gronk and Quint and just believe everything the Pou says, regardless of the fact that he is a blithering idiot who would argue against a brick wall for the sake of it.
Yeah we should believe everything you say instead ffs

I am pretty confident coaches have some contact with agents.

Not as much as the HOF would and the coach isn't there for the deal.

But he would still advising the club how desperate we are to keep this player or get this player.

Otherwise how does the club sign players unless you approach them and they meet with the coach first.

Its the coaches job to sell a vision to the players to play for them at the club.

It looks like the Club has finally got its digital act together. Dick has already been moved to the top 30 on the website. Just need his profile now.

We just seem to be a more professional club, from the back office to the football department. Not a ball has been passed this season but I have so much more faith in the Eels than I have for a long time.

Ryles is even updating the club website!

which position do people consider to be strongest across the NRL these days?
It has been fullback for the last decade in my opinion.
Agreed. It's become the home for that mercurial playmaker who can't kick or tackle well. In ancient times he might've played in the halves but now he would be a liability there.

Why would we give a PO to a winger 🤔 just a dumb plan.
Same reason we would give them money.
I Understand why you would go with a Mutual Option. When it comes up for the club or player to take it the club can take it but at a higher price as they believe the player is worth more now or the player can take it as the club isn't taking up their option and they can't get a better deal elsewhere.
In that case the MO is unlikely to save any money on a contract without it.

Spoke to a mate from the club yesterday, he thinks Dylan is now likely to stay until 2027, when he can activate his next option, especially with two more teams joining the comp by then.
I’m pretty sure my old mate @Poupou Escobar mentioned it earlier but I reckon we are not fussed if we lose him after 2027 because my feeling is that if we don’t win the comp with this halves combination in the next couple of years, we never will.

“The 1st point is we haven’t entered into a player contract that has an option for about 2 years; May 23 was the last time we entered into a contract with a player option.
“Point 2, since that time we’ve signed or retained 22 to 24 players since [then] without issuing POs.

Honestly... how much clearer can it get
Yeah and the results are obvious. Instead of POs we are now overpaying for our own players. Oh well, at least the customers are happy.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean player agents are dealing with coaches. They would get their opinions of coaches second hand, through the players and club officials.

Brad Arthur may have another NRL gig by then as well.

I suspect Dylan will follow Arthur if he ends up back in the NRL
