I wouldn’t sign either of them for those amounts!
Half a million for a bit part, undefined role player from an already successful system being thrown in to likely have to be the guiding hand for long periods of season? I’ve never seen anything in Wishart’s game to suggest he’d be capable of what we even need.
Cole again is in an established successful team. Outside of that, I doubt he’s noticeably better than Volkman.
If we’re going to chase halves, it’ll be Galvin, Metcalf and (I don’t know where his contract is at) Katoa. Outside of them, there’s no point throwing money at anyone, just offer them the expanded opportunity to be a first choice half.

In which case neither of Wishart or Cole would be worth the amounts you said.
Galvin possibly is going to get that but we surely have to enquire.
Katoa I reckon also gets more than that, partially to just get him away from Dolphins.
Metcalf if things get worse at Warriors may look elsewhere. He’s similar to Brown except smaller, quicker and not as good defensively. So I guess he’s more similar to Moses but without the kicking game.
The other possibility is Walker, especially if Rorters go all in on Galvin

To be honest… I’m not actually that disappointed in terms of him leaving the club. What I am disappointed in, is that I think he owed the club a bit of loyalty for standing by him when they could’ve torn up his contract after his incident.

The upside of course is that we are absolutely loaded to go to the market. Metcalf suits as a running 5/8 at a fraction of the cost.

There were rumours floating around that Ryles etc didn’t see the value Dylbags brought in a few years time when his contract went up. By refusing to budge or engage the club sent him and his manager a clear message I believe.

Bizarrely, I’m even more excited for the future as Rylesy is going to get the chance to really shape this team with some cash to spend.

No I don't think this is the way to go...unless it's the guns...the others left after being decimated are not going anywhere.
They themselves will be in a rebuild.
We need to next year sign 4-5 quality players and keep promoting youth whilst dispensing with the likes of Lussick, Paulo, Lane, wiremu, Dunster, Joffa, Cartwright
We need to sign 2 props and 2 backrowers as well as a 5/8th and a winger and centre so there's healthy competition
Its actually exciting as we will have good $$$ to spend
