Rumours and Stuff

Do you understand that if he had a vanilla contract with us, he would have been a free agent in November and prolly signed the same deal with the knights after months of procrastination?

Actually, don’t bother answering that. I don’t think you will ever get it.

Do you understand that you must be on the spectrum? Don’t answer that. I don’t think you’ll ever get it.

You make him an offer prior. But if he says no I want to test the open market in Nov 1 you turn your attention to the young kids. If one of them signs then you start looking for 2nd rowers and Dylan you move on from.
Its simple. Instead we've lost all 3 young talents.
I don't think that most clubs would be as flippant with Dylan Brown, considering he has just signed the biggest contract in NRL history.

Nice to see O’Neil being defended by the TCT. No mention by the fat f**ks of the CEO or management. That’s what happens when you’re sponsored by the club.

Don't underestimate BAs involvement in this. Coaches would of told management what players are must keeps. You're kidding yourselves if you think not.
BA would of said we must do absolute best to keep these guys and build around them long term/next 4yrs.

Do you understand most clubs negotiating started before NOV 1 so they don't let their stars test the market.
We could of sat him down end of 2023 and said listen we have two talented juniors on the books coming off contract end of 24 . We are giving you priority but if you can't extend now for 2026 onwards we will be doing best to secure these young talents before they leave also and if we do then your services won't be required. Right now you are priority but if you don't commit im keeping my options open.

Actually don't bother answering that. I dont think you'll ever get it.
Unable to retain pathways for talented spine players x 2
Give him an ultimatum for two kids that hadn’t even played reserve grade? Hardly anyone extends their players with two years to run on their contracts. Dylan Brown’s contract was favourable to us, in a time when our salary cap was tight. Why give him the opportunity to renegotiate? We could’ve ended up with this Knights contract instead.

We have quality halves in our current SG Ball team.

100 % agree but that’s one idiot gone. The agent negotiates with the GM and CEO. They all sign off on the deal. Coach tell them that the player is a must keep. They need to go

You need to sign quality players to attract other quality players. It's as simple as that UNLESS you throw stupid money just like Knoughts have done.
Quality attracts quality hence why I state we need to sign 4-5 quality players next yr whilst continuing to blood the young blokes through.
If you don't sign quality then ur at a big risk of missing out players because some and most players don't want to go to a team where the roster is gash and you will constantly be losing games.
Losing becomes a habit.
Winning needs to become the habit plus we need to sign leaders. Also players with footy smarts.
Easier said than done but we need to be very astute with the next signings as the cleanout and rebuild starts now
It's interesting that BA was desperate to sign leaders from the get go yet here we are, 11 years later still crying out for leaders.

My issue with that is - is Brown a better centre than his competitors for centre (Lomax, Simonson, etc.)?

If not, I don't get the point of continuing to give him game time - he's not an Eels in 2026, so unless he's proven that he's the match-winner people deem him to be, he's not an automatic selection (or, at least, he shouldn't be).
You still want to put your best 13 players on the field. And in any universe he is one of them. I'd leave him right where he is (barring injuries).

What's wrong with being on spectrum?
It isn't like they asked for it nor did their parents chose it.
Leave them alone they are already disadvantaged and have a tough life

There is nothing with it. My best staff member is on the spectrum. He is ridiculously intelligent, however if you ask him to go out and buy you a take away coffee he’ll come back with a sausage roll.

Is that right. Sanders was free to negotiate Nov 23 and Brown Nov 24. Please explain.

EDIT: then delayed because of the junior clause, but announced like 1 day later.

Sanders might have been inclined to re sign for a couple more years if he could see an end to the current halves contracts.

Don't forget I said 'if'

It's not like sanders has landed in a better situation, fog and strange are going to be hard to get past. Infact sanders would have been playing FG now if he was at the Eels.

I'm sure the upper brass at the Eels are fuming they have lost three halves options they have developed in the last year.

Maybe you'd like to explain why the club isn't offering POs anymore??

The TCT boys are stunned that he signed with the Knights, especially since many had spoken to Brown, who assured them he was staying.
If those blokes told me the sky was blue I’d question them, their strike rate makes Bea Arthur’s finals record look like Bellamy’s.

Thisnis the aftermath of what we did in early 2022 handing out all those wild contracts and the reason why we are now in a rabble. Every club needs to be able to refresh and bring in youth each year. We blocked everyone. Whoever was responsible for this is to blame. The squad management was irresponsible.
“Just get it done MON”

Thank f**k the bald fraud is now gone.
