Brown has been very disappointing. Offer him to Knights immediately and take one of their good juniors in exchange.
I suspect the Knights don't have cap space to take on Brown for the remainder of the season...given they've already got him for next season, the only player that the Knights would be remotely interested in swapping him for would be Hastings.

How long does it take for the players to forget the crap they have been taught for years?

We have been terrible out wide in years.

If anyone watched Cronullas defense put wide you would have almost cried.. Their winger stayed out on his man the center held his line and they defended as one..

Yesterday we had a man on man and somehow the Tigers still managed to go around us... Due to our centre turning in his shoulder multiple times.

Will had 6 missed tackles but it didn't show how many times he caused an overlap due to his poor reads.

Speed, man for man, we got no speed

This is how bad the day after that humiliation is, stopped for a coffee where you get the opportunity to read the paper. Picked it up, saw the headlines back and front of the Terrorgraph and that was enough.
What a friggin disaster , when your captain and then soon to be paid highest earner spent most of the game walking, why the heck should we be invested in the result 😡

Just watched the presser. Ryles is certainly more articulate than BA. He’s taking it well atm, measured, calm and seems to have a good handle on where we are at.
This contrasts to BA at times last year (or was it the year before?) pretty dumbfounded about why and how we were losing.
I’d like to think he can make us competitive this year but we need Mitch out there and some tougher merkins.
Junior should go back to playing 3rd grade rugby under a fake name. As has been said here, he’s being outplayed by a 19yr old.

I thought Barrett spoke with more passion and more sense in a lot of post match presser then what BA generally did.

The bar wasn't high

I thought Ryles was better last week post match then this week. But he may been more horrified like us all what he witnessed out there yesterday.

I would have love to known the positives he saw in that performance.

I assume Samrani was one of them.

He handled the Dylan Brown booing question pretty diplomatically.

He was well prepared for what the media were looking for a gotcha quote i think.

It could have been easy to get sucked into that.

There is no point ranting and raving right now its not going to achieve anything.

Deal with it behind close doors and sort the issues out there.

We need to go and get 2 forwards with 150 NRL games who are internal culture and result influencers.
When we've found that, come back to me about maybe winning some games sometimes in the immediate future.
Totally agree. A back rower and influential front rower.

Edit - F&%k knows who I was responding to or why the quotes are weird.

As silly as it sounds after having 80+ points put on us in the first two weeks, I have faith in Ryles.

I think the enormity of the task of rebuilding this club has been made very clear over the last fortnight.

But in his press conferences, Ryles seems to know exactly what is needed to turn us around, which is very positive.

Clearing out the dead wood that has been stinking up the joint for nearly a decade is probably a good place to start, and instilling some players with genuine leadership skills is going to do the world of good.

Tuivati, Samrani, and Smith are bright spots for our future.

Paulo, Lane, Matterson (despite not playing Firsts this year)...they all need to find a new job, because they will not bring this club forward.
I think he had come across very defeated in the pressers

I thought the team started well defensively and were mindful of slowing the ptb. I was impressed early but we went back to our old ways. I also liked that he's identified the edge issues and in my mind he's targeted Penisini as the major issue. I'm not sure there's a clever footballer in Gideon but what would I know.
Paulo wasn't great but I think that's the hardest he's tried in 2 years. Offa looked tough. Lane was better than expected. We have a few with horrible hands that are so hard to carry. Gideon, Hoppy, Williams, Penisini and Russell will generally have at least one costly drop each game.
Last weeks fall guy was Kelma. This week's should be Penisini. Has to be. He was diabolical. The back 5 have to be, Isaiah, Simmo (or Russell if Simmos not fit), Zac, Samrani and Fox.
Bring on next Sunday. 😁

Big decisions for Jason Ryles at Parramatta Eels after 32-6 loss to Wests Tigers
The next month makes for chilling reading for Eels fans. With a brutal fixture run and no Mitchell Moses, coach Jason Ryles is left with pressing calls to make in key positions if he wants to salvage his side’s season, writes BRENT READ.

Dylan Brown’s head flashed on the scoreboard before Sunday afternoon’s game against the Wests Tigers at Commbank Stadium and a smattering of boos rang out around Parramatta’s home ground.
The $13 million man was in the spotlight and he looked like a man on a mission as he ran out soon after through a guard of Eels supporters. Brown loosened his limbs and gritted his teeth.
Twice within the opening 10 minutes or so, he put the foot down and ran at the Wests Tigers. With those two runs, you got a sense of why the Newcastle Knights have broken the bank to sign Brown for next season.
The problem wasn’t with those opening 10 minutes or so. It was with what came after that.
EELS VS TIGERS PLAYER RATINGS
The Eels needed someone to stand up and it was logical to think that bloke would be Brown given he has been handed the keys to the club while Mitchell Moses struggles with an injury that had him watching from the sidelines on Sunday with a moon boot on his afflicted limb.

Moses delivered some bad news on Sunday by revealing his returnd date could be pushed back from Round 6 to Round 9.
The halfback’s absence has been a sledgehammer blow to the Eels and their coach Jason Ryles. Everything at Parramatta runs through their skipper.
Without him, they have looked like a ship without a rudder, drifting aimlessly. On Sunday, they hit an iceberg in the form of the Tigers.
Their next month makes for chilling reading for Eels fans. In coming weeks they face the Bulldogs, Manly, the Dragons and Canberra.

On current form, you would suggest their only hope is against St George Illawarra. Their season could be over before Moses returns unless Brown can start to have a greater impact on matches.
Ryles has options, albeit not many. He could hand the No.7 jersey to former South Sydney half Dean Hawkins, who made his return in NSW Cup on Sunday and scored a try in an Eels win.

Or he could consider handing the No.7 jersey to Brown as a way to light a fire under him. In the end, it’s only a number.
Brown’s capacity to influence the outcome of games like Sunday afternoon has more to do with his mindset than the number on his back.
Perhaps he could take a leaf out of his opponents’ book. As the game hung in the balance on Sunday afternoon, it was the Tigers who seized control through their own million-dollar men - Jarome Luai and Lachlan Galvin.
Take me there
Luai has been signed by the Tigers on a deal worth $6 million over the next five years. Galvin will join him in the million-dollar club soon enough, if not at the Tigers than at another club.
Maybe even Parramatta. They dictated the outcome of this match along with the other members of the Tigers’ spine - fullback Jahream Bula and hooker Api Koroisau.
When the four of them combined, you got a sense of what the Tigers could produce this season.
Brown, in his defence, could do with some of that type of support. The Eels’ spine without Moses is sadly lacking in class and it showed.

Late in the second half, with the result beyond doubt, Brown put the foot down again. This time he was tackled and boos again began to ring out.
With seven minutes to go, Brown took on the line again and looked to have created a try for Zac Lomax. The try was ruled out for obstruction, although Parramatta finally had something to show for their efforts in the dying minutes.
After full-time, Jarome Luai sought out Brown for a chat. Luai has been in his shoes, having been lured to the Tigers by a big-money deal worth upwards of $6 million. Luai wouldn’t elaborate on the contents of their conversation.
“I am not going to talk about what we spoke about,” Luai said.
“That is between a mate and a mate. We have a job to do, I have a job to do for our team. I wish him nothing but the best.”
We all do. Except, maybe, for those few disgruntled Eels fans.

I think either we need to give him the 7 in the hopes it kickstarts him and us, at the risk that he takes that mindset to bigger and better with Newcastle, or f**k him and probably us in the short term by dropping him so he gets zero f**ken development before leaving. His decision was just business, well not helping his development is also just business

I tend to agree with giving him the 7 it gives Volkman more of a chance to take a back seat and show us what he can do as a 5/8 as he will be putting his hand up for that spot next year.
