The best thing about today's game, is that Newcastle recruitment team had thier heads in the toilet bowl puking up.....

I still shake my head....what are they thinking???

Anyhow, I think we need to look no further than Hawkins for browns replacement. He is very solid and has plenty of room for improvement. Kind of reminds me of a young Moses.
Id rather joash tbh. When moses is back, i want him to play like Cleary. Get his hands on the ball nearly all attacking plays like Thurston. Joash floats around. Looking for opportunities and backing up

I just feel hawkins is too similar.

Yeah I think that's what we should do..

Josh has been good for CUP in the first 2 games.

Wouldn't miss a beat at 5/8.

Believe this is you will, but counting last seasons (regular season) I have tipped 5 full rounds in a row.
I am not usually a good tipper, it is remarkable.

Disagree. We need a running threat to complement Moses. Not another <Moses. Someone with speed, who has a bit of a kicking game, but running comes first and foremost. Fletcher Sharp could be that guy or someone similar.

No sleight on your opinion. I just see it a bit different. Peace.

Now i thought about it

3 dyl - defence and run
6 joash
7 moses

Maybe peni at edge as he runs hard. Let dyl make the centre defensive decisions as i think he is a v good defender
Despite my positivity about yesterdays improved effort, there are some glaringly obvious roster changes needed.

I think we all know Cartwright, Lussick, Offa, Dunster and obviously brown are gone this year. I think we should also (and probably already do) have Paulo, Lane and Matto in the shop window.

It means we will need 4-5 quality forwards, a decent hooker and an outside back....but I am leaning towards Timana's post and think we have the running 6 in the club, without needing to spend astronomical money on Galvin, which is what it will take - for God's sake, one of the media idiots (I think its Neil Breen) is talking a 20m deal for Galvin!

If Joash or Twidle can function outside Moses next year, then I think we can recruit the likes of the following:

Trey Mooney - middle
Lazarus Vaalepu - middle
Bullemor - edge
Harry Hayes/ Harrison Hassett/Noah Martin - edge...one of these would love the opportunity
Mozer - hooker
Stonestreet - wing, or even Rocco Berry as a centre

Or just throw the world at Payne Haas and be done with it....

I would love having Galvin because he's 19.he would be a good foil for moses. He seems he can switch with Mitch during games as the hb and the 5/8th. Sometimes i think mitch wants to run more like a 5/8th. Furthermore, i just have this feeling that moses will be injury prone or will be missing games. And Galvin will take over. And when Mitch retires, Galvin will take over the team

Something dyl could not

The backups are good but they won't be the dominant voice if mitch is not there. Though i think Galvin could.

Otherwise, yes. Throw everything at Payne

Mooney is contacted till the end of 27

I like Mozer but Smith was good yesterday

If brown is worth $1.3 mill Sharpe would be worth $1.5

Galvin would be an incredible signing.

I can't see it happening, though.

If Junior continues to play like he did yesterday, then we only need to find a complement to him.

Personally, I'd drop Ofahengaue - he's provided very little this year.

I doubt Matterson gets back on the field any time soon, which is a shame - for all his issues, he is a fine player.

I think Lane still has something to offer - but we might need to consider having him come off the bench.

He made 30 tackles yesterday, and missed only 1 - but he only ran 7 times for 50 metres.

I think we all agree that Lane is better when he is running more, and tackling less.

Put Doorey in Lane's spot, move Lane to the bench, and have Lane come on with fresh legs to run at tired defenders.

As we slowly start to get troops back, we will start to get better.

I thought the 3 players for the Dogs that were difference makers were Daniel Suluka-Fafita, Sititi Tupouniua and Josh Curran.

The first two had height, strength, energy and footwork (a bit like Payne Haas) and Curran just never stopped being a menace.

Tough to compete when our signings for the last 2 years, apart from Lomax who seems to have been a BA entertain and sign here player.

we have signed 2 Manly reserve grade players, 1 Souths reserve grader, 3 Dogs reserve graders and a benchie from the Sharks - which sums up what we have been subject to. The last 5 years have been nothing but poor, anyway until there is a seismic change in that area, we will continue to suffer .

The upside is we have some genuinely good players in Flegg and our juniors but they need time and decent experienced players to mature if pushed into NRL. Let’s see how long that takes, Ryles needs an aggressive and targeted signing period, which is something we haven’t seen since the Brian Smith era.
