Rumours and Stuff

To be honest, I agree with the sentiment of the article - it's total bullshit that Gould goes off on his media shows, and talks about what a fan of Calvin's he is...isn't there supposed to be some anti-tampering rules?

How Gould continually gets away with shit like this is beyond me.

Don't worry about anti-tampering, is there an issue here for the Dogs board?

They are liable from a governance perspective if someone is using their influence in another sphere to achieve favourable outcomes for the club. Possibly Gould using his media presence to butter his clubs bread constitutes a conflict of interest, and may potentially land the club in hot water. In which case the board would cop the legal ramifications?

I'm not sure what legal ramifications would exist. They are only liable if the use of that influence in another sphere is either illegal, in breach of contract or otherwise a breach of directors duties to act the best in interests of the club. Unless this leads to some penalty for the club it's not a big issue for their board. And even if there's a chance that it will they might decide that in an expected value sense it is worth letting Gould do what he wants.
The conflict of interest here is not between Gould and the Dogs board. There might be one b/w Gould and the media organisations he works for.

I don’t get this whole Gould thing on here. Good on him and the Dogs. I’m envious. You can see a management there that wants to win a comp.

Their management hunger flows down to the team. They are hungry and want to win on and off the field using what ever means possible legally to win. They have people in charge that know footy.

we then have our management, coming last. You can see the culture at both clubs and how they operate. We have Jim an absolute nobody. Which reflects our standing on the ladder. He’s not a footy person and he’s responsible for all the nuffies that he’s employed under him. Our management never speak of winning a comp they speak of making the 8. Loser talk again.

from recruitment to admin they all have no f**king idea. Good governance is a good thing, but when it’s unhinged, unbalanced and woke to the point that it’s hampered our team, the results are LAST!

The Dogs will win the comp within the next 2-3 years because of the absolute awesome management they have brought in and it’s because of Gould.

I wish one of the idiots in charge would use their influence for something. But they have none on and off the field. Hate to say it but good on the Dogs. They just want it more than our imbeciles in charge.

It's like insider trading. Good on you if you can make shitloads of money and don't get caught, but it's still illegal. What Gould does undermines the integrity of the competition although he's not Robinson Crusoe there.

I personally admire him for what he's doing at the Dogs but he shouldn't be on the media influencing other clubs.

Hiney, I know I sound like the dad who's trying to distance himself from the adopted son who turned out to be an arsehole . . . . but what makes you so sure he's a WT fan ?
I mean, the logo as his avatar.
He hangs shit on WT at any opportunity.
He knows the parra blokes' names.
He has a parra tattoo.
He has parra bed sheets. Disturbing, much ?

And then to back your side of the argument up . . . all we have is you saying he's a WT man. I want evidence !
Sorry mate, like you seem a nice enough bloke and all, but he's got the bed sheets man !

Also, you can be critical of our buffoons at the same time as acknowledging that Gould is a sneaky and manipulative hypocritical merkin. And, Penrith and Melbourne prove that you don't have to be underhanded to be successful as an administration.

Would people rather see a trade window? Say a week after the GF until a week before the season commences and a two week window around origin? I’ve seen this or similar, mooted before.

As I mentioned in a previous post, clearly I hope we get him, but I feel for Tigers fans. It’s a kick in the nuts, during the season.

I get the feeling though the NRL fkn loves it. Everywhere on social media and the actual mainstream media it’s Galvin.
Agree, this is total bullshit.
