You can tell from the smug responses by Ciraldo in the presser today that the dogs are 100% in on him.

wouldn’t be surprised if it’s confirmed by the weekend

parra were 100% confident we had him, but the dogs have upside in their ladder position and Gus.
They signed heaps of merkins when they were on the bottom of the ladder.

If we miss out, we miss out. We have Dyl’s money to spend and the player market is always moving. I genuinely wouldn’t understand how the Dogs could afford him along with Leo Thompson as well.
They have a lot of moneyball forwards like Suluka fifita, Morrin, Sam Hughes etc

they also have Connor tracey on 500k> which is very cheap for a fullback

So. To recap.
He makes his first-grade trial debut after having played just 2 jersey flegg games and zero reserve grade games.
It's just a trial mate, nobody cares. He earned it by his efforts in preseason, just like all the other trialists that year (and every other year at every club). And his selection was justified by his form in reserve grade that year, and every year since.
Then he makes his first regular season first grade debut having played just 2 jersey flegg games and about 6? reserve grade games (where, by the way, he was outplayed by that old bald fella in at least 2 of those games that this mast head was at).
Is there any other player that has gotten into first grade having been that fast tracked in Parra's last, say, 30 years...
And he happens to have been the coache's son.
Mahoney made his debut after five reserve grade games and Loizou after only four. Tepai Moeroa didn't play reserve grade at all before his NRL debut. Neither did Junior Paulo. Ethan Sanders debuted after only seven NSW Cup games (same as Jake Arthur). Blaize Talagi played two games before his debut.

This is the problem with you people. You have confirmation bias. You are so focused on digging up dirt on merkins that you don't look at everything else and understand the things you are criticising are actually very normal.

That’s what we said about Foran. We’ve all
been burnt so many times - I’m old enough to remember Bob Lindner coming to us as a Kangaroo and doing SFA. Dykes, Justin Poore, Lee Mossop, Nathan Barnes, Adam Ritson all got us excited only to end up as disappointments (not always the fault of the player obviously)
And if we do sign (or re-sign) a great player I just assume we paid too much. I still don't believe we weren't the highest bidder for Lomax.

Dogs would have one of the cheapest spines in top 8, particularly if they get rid of Mahoney like they are trying to
That’s true but they’ve been trying to get rid of him because they’re apparently feeling the pinch in the cap. What would Burton be on? 800k? See how it all plays out I guess. Gus will probably sign the kid and work it all out afterward.

In the short term if he does sign with the Dogs its a huge risk for them as much as he is with us.

Because it has the potential to upset the apple cart they currently have in place.

Galvin just waltzing in there this year can throw the whole dynamic that has made them so successful this year out of whack.

Rissoling Sexton now can jeopardise everything they have built there season on and it can backfire.

But its typical of Gus Gould and what went on at Penrith just as they were about to have a roster to compete for a premiership he would make decisions on the roster or coaching and it threw Penrith back a few steps again.

Penrith were ready to dominate from 2015 and they had 5 years of middling success because of Gus continually chopping and changing things.

Wasnt until Ivan Cleary came back and told them to piss him off the stability in the roster was able to shine through. And they finally had a dynasty.
They had that roster (and replaced merkins every year and kept winning) because of the pathways Gould put in place. Funded by huge money from his mate Packer.

I get the feeling Jim’s mowing and trolley boy MON Will totally stuff the Galvin deal. And he’ll go to the Dogs. I don’t think these morons know of to sign a decent player. They only know how to sign reserve graders that player managers want to off load to any club to just to keep their boys employed.

Gus Gould will eat them up and spit them out I reckon. He’ll take Galvin to the Chinese restaurant vs Jim’s mowing and Mon taking him to Maccas. Levels!

I’d be very disappointed if we don’t close the deal considering how we’re losing Drown and how public we’ve been with our interest. It would make us look really bad.
