Maybe we need to 'bring back the leaks' so we can truly judge the failures of our R&R team.

At the moment we are just assuming they are incompetent, without really knowing too much except the outcomes.

That's basically how we are judging them now based on the results on who we sign.

Honestly since the BA sacking we have been going ok with signings. But we do need some bigger signatures especially in the centres and second row.

it's plain for all to see isnt it?

we've been literally saying it for years and I've been saying it to you privately that we don't have the people on board to help us get a decent signing over the line when ever we're obstructed by a rival offer...

so here's an idea.

blow the RRC up!! and form a RDC ( Recruitment and Development committee ) not involving the HOF, LM and CEO!

TBH, I think we judge them more on who we don't sign.

I admire Gus. Don’t get all the hate. Wish we had him. What a man. What a manager. Actually knows footy, talent, management, shrewd, calculating and cunning. it’s what we needed but we were blessed with MON and Jim’s mowing, they were hired from the homeless park at Glebe
When was the last time Gould managed a grand final winning team? Probably as long as our g/f drought. So don't get the hype. He is a legend in his own mind and I believe Dogs will not win a g/f until after he leaves.

My thoughts as well..

How long has he been at the Dogs now?

Took until Ciraldo to come in before they started to show signs of progress.

Didn't sign players that were apart of the GF run for the riff.

Since 1991

His only involvement at a club when they won the premiership while he was there is 2002 with the Roosters.

Hard to disagree, but the real success in identification and recruitment is the development area, DeGois and Shepard have really hit the mark there. Wouldn’t be a crazy idea to move them up to NRL in place of the current senior questionable team. Maybe the answer is already at the club.

What are you talking about the Recruitment team just pulled off the biggest signing by beating the other 16 teams to sign the merkin from the west tigers that got sacked for turning up late to training.
Havent seen that, where was it announced.Actually just came in from outside work.

I dont think we were that smart.

You dont have your first grade coach grinning when asked about Galvin multiple times.

We got played off a break.

You dont get involved if its going to make it look like you had pants pulled down.

I think Ryles will learn from that as well after being burned this time.

He probably won't be as open/direct with his answers in the future and look to improve that poker face.
Why should he care? We were interested, and it was appropriate to say so. Missing out on the player is no skin off our nose.

The worst thing that can happen in recruitment and retention is overpaying. That’s a problem that lasts until the contract ends. Missing out on a recruitment/retention target is solved as soon as their cap space is filled by some other merkin.

You’re asking the wrong question. What you should be asking is why don’t we have someone like that?
The answer to the first question should answer this one. If there’s f**k all Phil Goulds in the game, why do you think we should be one of the few clubs with this sort of resource? When has our club ever been associated with people like this?

I tend to agree.

I think he has whiffed on the Galvin signing, despite the fact he has built them very well thus far! I think Galvin is a poor fit for the Bulldogs on the field (not a 7 or 1 - they really want to strengthen both) and he is a poor fit culturally.

I think desperate clubs sign Glavin as they can forgive his "idiosyncrasies" - hence Parra's interest at this point.

Gould has a habit of over developing clubs to the point where he grasps the next shiny thing in an attempt to guarantee success...sometimes you just have to let the coach take the squad you have developed and knock off any rough edges.

Gould can't do this, because he needs to be relevant and in control.

I now agree that they won't win a comp whilst he is there.
