You can see a bit of his running game here:
But yeah, based on what’s out there, he doesn’t seem all that inspiring — though I don’t know his game well enough to say for sure.
Neither he nor Wishart are terribly exciting to me, but I’d give Ryles benefit of doubt knowing more about them.

Players who are off contract (I think) who can improve our squad (I think):
Josh Kerr
Ethan Bullemor
Davvy Moale
Zac Laybutt
Edward Kosi

That said Kerr & Bullemor could definitely be having contract year bumps and the other 3 may or may not be better than what we already have

Dominating it the Super League doesn’t always translate to dominating in the NRL. Ryan Hall was always one of my favourite players, yet he came over here and looked a spud in his short time with the Roosters. Sam Tomkins showed glimpses here and there when he was at the Warriors but never looked the world beater he did in England. Then of course there’s my favourite of Rangi Chase being the Man of Steel one year over there. Wouldn’t mind having a crack at Welsby, mind you.
I understand what you're saying but Lewis is different. I've watched English league since the 80's and Lewis does things under pressure like no other. He's the type of player that rises to the occasion. French is another one but I'd way prefer Lewis. Remember George Williams was going really well before home sickness ruined it. It's definitely a tad risky but could pay off big time.
The thing that sucks is the Dodd experiment probably scared NRL clubs off any English players. Never understood Souths buying Dodd. He couldn't even crack into the English team

Since there's talk that attention may be turning to Jonah Pezet (who is free to negotiate with other clubs if Jarome Hughes re-signs with the Storm), here’s some quick info on him:
  • He turns 23 next year.
  • Has played 10 NRL games and 24 NSW/QLD Cup games.
  • Tackle efficiency of 83.17% in his short first grade career (also 7 try assists and 2 tries).
  • Right-footed kicker.
  • Has had a tough run with injuries — tore his ACL last year and was out for almost a year. Made his return about two months ago but unfortunately got injured again in his first game back, sidelining him for a few more months with another knee injury.
Some short highlights from QLD Cup last year:
Whoever made that highlights package needs to find a new hobby

The 19-year-old had indicated a preference to take up a deal with the ‘Dogs that is believed to only reach $750,000 in the third and final season - a decision that was confirmed later on Sunday by ‘Dogs head of football Phil Gould in his alternative position as a commentator with the Nine Network.
Channel 9 commentator Phil Gould: “We’re hearing reports that Lachlan Galvin has signed with the Dogs. Let’s cross down to Sydney Morning Herald reporter Philip Gould for more on this breaking news.”

Sydney Morning Herald reporter Philip Gould: “Thanks Phil. I’ve heard from sources close to the matter he will sign for the Dogs and also he’s signing for significantly less than any other offer. Sounds like some superb negotiations from Dogs boss Phillip Gould, who is now holding a press conference.”

Dogs GM Phillip Gould: “We’d like to announce the signing of Lachlan Galvin. We didn’t try to sign him at any point until today and we must have been so impressive, he just couldn’t say no.”

100% Footy host Gus Gould: “I’ve been saying it for 18 months that Lachlan Galvin is the best teenager on the planet, but also that he absolutely shouldn’t take the biggest offer, and that teams would win premierships with him. I’m just glad that Phil at the Dogs listened to me and signed him, and that Lachlan listened and didn’t take the biggest offer, now we just need the NRL to listen to me and let him win premierships with whatever team he is with.”

Toby Sexton is set to quit Canterbury at season’s end in the wake of Lachlan Galvin’s signing with the Bulldogs.
This masthead can reveal Sexton is exploring his future elsewhere with the Bulldogs No.7 already attracting interest from three NRL rivals following Canterbury’s decision to lure Galvin from the Tigers.
The Bulldogs have not formally advised Sexton he will not be offered a new deal but the playmaker can see the writing on the wall as Galvin prepares to spearhead a new era at Belmore.
Sexton has played an undervalued role in Canterbury’s surge to the top of the ladder and sees himself as a starting halfback in the NRL.

Sexton’s manager was confident of securing a contract extension with the Bulldogs last month after holding promising talks with football boss Phil Gould.
But Canterbury’s play for Galvin has moved the goalposts and left Sexton on uncertain terrain at Belmore given that he is off-contract.
It is understood Sexton has no bitterness over the Galvin signing, but will look for greener pastures to continue his career in the NRL.
Just last month, coach Cameron Ciraldo praised Sexton’s team-first mentality in the Bulldogs’ best start to a season in 87 years.
“Currently Toby is off-contract and he hasn’t once ever put himself before the team,” the Canterbury coach said.

He’s been a really big character in the way we’ve turned around our culture and our connectivity.
“He’s played just over 50 games now, so he’s starting to feel more and more like he belongs in the NRL and I’m starting to see that in bits and pieces of his play.
“Toby’s got a really good energy around the group, he’s a really popular member of the team
“He’s always looking to get better and he’s coming in every day and works really hard with the coaches.
“‘Gus’ (Gould) and his manager are in constant conversations (about a new deal) but Toby’s only job right now is to focus on getting better every week and my job is to help him do that.”

I guess the goalposts keep moving....

Because you have to pay them stupid money to get them here and how many have actually succeeded? Lewis Dudd case in point

Canberra have gone after young forwards which had gone well for them, not backs or halves.
Lewis Dodd was one of the worst signings ever. It was plain stupid. Lewis is one another level. George Williams was successful but become homesick. Lewis shits all over Williams. You don't have to pay them crazy money. Lewis constantly talks about wanting to play NRL footy. He'll rise to the occasion like Nicolson. Who was not playing very well before Canberra.
Also think we're crazy for not going after

Iongi has thrown some poor passes this year, with the ball sometimes going forward or over the sideline.
He's probably decided it's better to take the tackle than force a risky pass and turn over possession.
Yeah. That's all disappeared these past 2 games. Good point. Just another example of players learning under the new regime. Well except for Penisini of cause.

Smart operators. We have Carty, Lane , Lussick, Matterson. They’ll be milking our cap for a while.
