Official now

It’s official, the Bulldogs have signed Lachlan Galvin.
The 19-year-old will join the Kennel, effective immediately, bringing an end to his two-month contract saga with the Wests Tigers.

Galvin will link with Canterbury as soon as Thursday on a deal that will take him through until the end of the 2028 season.

The deal averages out as just over $750,000 per season - and is less than what rival suitor Parramatta were offering.

Up until now, Canterbury have been reluctant to declare Galvin’s signing as a done deal.

That can now be confirmed as official, although the Dogs may hold off from formally announcing the signing until after Wednesday night’s State of Origin opener.

The Eels can feel hard done by.

Few know how extraordinarily close Parramatta went to signing Galvin, with the teenager likely to reveal, in time, that he had decided to join the Eels last Friday, only to change his mind after speaking with his family and one of his closest mentors, Bulldogs assistant coach Luke Vella across last weekend.

Yeah somehow we’re meant to believe this bollocks….So allegedly Galvin approached the Bulldogs on the Saturday…”hey can you offer me less to play for you? Oh really, you can?? Where do I sign?”.

He's a very good defender. Replacing Drown with an inexperienced midget fullback won't help our defence any, and defence is more of a weakness for us than our attack.

I tell you one of the reasons I think Papalii is a genuine shot at 6, apart from being a decent footballer he's a very quick learner with a great attitude, The way he was able to adapt to right right wing at the start of the game with no notice was the one thing that impressed me the most about the kid. If we decide to go down that route ( and something tells me we won't ) than we can start planning on this now and have him ready by March next year.

with the options we have underneath us I don't think we have to go outside for a replacement, particularly if we're able to keep Paps, Volk, Hawk, Apa, Walker and Lorenzo healthy.

The potential defensive issue for Papalii, isn't he can't play defend. It's his size.

He wouId be targeted with edge forwards running at him. Like how Moses was targeted last night. Look at Manly last week and Haumole running at Drown. WouId Papalii make these tackles?

Is Papalii up to making 20 or so tackles a game? He probably makes most of them, but just missing 3-4 tackles, makes him a defensive liability.

But he definitely has the talent and seems to have a good attitude. So it's quite possible he could do it.

I get the potential risks surrounding but if it means risking an off season injury to get him prepared than we do that, another thing this kid doesn't lack is courage.

just to reiterate he is 1 of many options we have...I mean if defence is the issue than lets throw walker there and that should fix it for the short time.

all this is, is a short term solution until Lorenzo is ready to rock'n'roll
