It was all about the vibe and apparently we can still make the semis. f**k me how delusional are these people?
Will that's not exactly how it was said.....

It was a question about short term and long term goals.

He said we are on a journey at the moment and it will take time. Some difficult rosters decisions were made earlier in the year to build a younger team for the future. Further changes required over next 6 to 12 months to get where we want to be.

For this year, continued improvement, build identify (fight, effort and pressure), eliminate errors which means winning more games than losing. Hopefully this gets us to the fringe of the 8. With a bit of luck, challenging for the 8, however a lot of things have to go our way, based on where we are.

We need to see further improvement next year, need to be contending for finals and building towards challenging for titles sooner than later.

I reckon that's a pretty reasonable response to the question.

On reflection after listening to both podcasts.

Seems that under Ryles ,given his experience at the Storm and Roosters has influenced the way we operate in R&R , particularly locking up our own juniors and looking internally. Prior to Ryles it feels like we had a Tigers style R&R and it reflects heavily in how the club went backwards in that area since the GF. Issuing extended contracts , perhaps over paying and dare we say options.

Jim is a skilled operative, and talks that way, the one question that I think most wanted answered was why a club as big across most methics as the Eels seems to find it difficult to to sign elite level players. Guess you don’t want to give up too much info, but at least he was prepared to be interviewed. He’s not Gould in speaking in footy related details that’s for certain. However, alignment was the preferred word used in describing the clubs actions.

If we make the 8 I’m buying everyone here a beer. I already owe @Stevie a carton for us missing out on Galvin anyway.

That's the point, you, me and Jim all agree its highly unlikely.....but I reckon Jim, presented his view/goal in a reasonable manner.
He speaks well, I’ll give him that. But there was nothing remotely compelling in what he said. No insight, no spark. It was hollow and lifeless, like Hopgood pointlessly taking a settler on the third tackle.

Did either podcast bring up where our 12th home game will be next year now we don't have Darwin.

I asked Sarantinos this question a month ago at the Newcastle Members event during my 10 min chat with him and he gave me 3 options they were looking at.

I am surprised this wasn't brought up as its genuine question.

Agreed - i can see progress.

Now just waiting for the influx to properly evaluate the progress.
Progress has been made

Just need it to translate to some wins.

Titans should blow us away easily this week with the side they have.

But if we rock up with a attitude to drag them into a dogfight they ain't exactly the Dogs or Penrith known for the mental toughness and winning scrappy in the grind.

If we play like we did against Manly we can beat them and for me that will reinforce the build/trajectory were going under Ryles.

I don't think we would win this week under the previous bloke.

I get what you mean, but what I’m saying is the monetary amount being paid. It’s less if he wants to stay and more if we want him to stay.

That's how 100% of the options the eels put in place worked between 2020-2023.

I think peeps have gone and assumed after Josh Hodgson, that all sporting contract MOs include a fall back Call option for the Player at a lower consideration. They don't. Normally, if the club declines, the player is a free agent.

Lane might have a similar pie n coke player option trigger, but it's a hasty conclusion to assume that he does, just because one or two have in the past.
