What does everyone think of PVLs next wild idea.

Global round

Sounds exciting and probably the way forward.

Cities paying top dollar to have rugby league and NRL teams play there is what the NFL have doing for years.

Will there still be magic round and taking another game away from home to a regional area?
If so its less home games. I dont like it at all if end up with 10 home games

Agreed, though most (maybe all, I haven’t checked) NRL fullbacks were already playing reserve grade at 20. Maybe many of them were playing wing (again, I haven’t checked) though, and this particular Storm fullback is too small for the wing. I note he does have a touch footy background.

Plus Falagoo might be infront of? I don't know. My point is there are exceptions. Probably more so at strong clubs

I'd say Fa'alogo is well ahead. At the same age Hugo Peel is now, Fa'alogo only played one game of Flegg, then played the rest of the year in Qld Cup. He also made his NRL debut that year (2023).

Apologies if this is on the wrong thread and /or it’s already posted elsewhere, but I’m saddened to learn that “Parra Pete” Montgomery has passed away. Parra was larger than life, absolutely obsessed with our Eels, but most importantly an incredible human being. He was and always will be an icon of Hay and Country Rugby League in general. Adored by all who knew him, Parra contributed significantly across many sectors of life, was mischievous, loved any sort of banter and went above and beyond to help anyone who needed it.
Parra touched the lives of so many and will be incredibly missed.
RIP mate.

Oh, my, that's awful - we was a true gentleman.

Rest in peace, Parra Pete - you're with Gibbo, and Colonel Argent, now.

I like the vision you need to think outside of the box. Look at the bussiness plan and see if you will make money from it...

Gee, never knew him personally but he was a great contributor and a wealth of knowledge of footy, particularly the Hay area and he did a lot of work there. Sad to hear, although he often mentioned his health and why he moved to be nearer to treatment. Vale Parra Pete, hope the blue avd golds do you well in 2026 .

Obviously a lover of the great game and of CRL.

Really happy for Paulo watching him playing so well. I thought he was past it but he has had a great season I think so huge congrats.

If we landed another decent prop I’d love to see him stick around a bit longer as a bench player playing well.
He’s only 31 if he can keep his form and fitness up no reason he can’t play for another 3-4 years ( on a reduced contract
He could still add a lot of value playing role coming off the bench and mentoring the next generation

That's really, really sad news. I'm so sorry to hear that. :(
Thanks for letting us all know. He has been a mainstay of this forum forever.
Only ever met Pete once. 2009 GF.
Certainly a larger than life character and a good bloke.

I think we’ll look back in 20-30 years time at PVLs tenure as one of the most important periods of time for the nrl.
Some of these initiatives like Vegas, PNG, origin in NZ might seem a bit out there, but if he can crack a couple of different international markets it can change the trajectory of the game. AFL has no presence outside of Australia, Rugby has no domestic game. Big opportunity for Rugba League to dominate
