I agree he isn't one of best players, but he is one of our best young forwards, with Sammy.

The kid is developing nicely! But yes he is defensively minded player, which is fine. His attack will get better with more experience.

I don’t think Williams is the answer on edge either. Guymer & Kautoga certainly aren’t superstars but you can see the difference mobility on edges makes, we get stripped on edges far less often

With Mooney being told he is free to go.

I suspect that means Josh Papali'i is going to go around again next year for Canberra and there clearing cap space for him.

I find that one surprising i get the sentiment but i reckon i would have sent Papa out on a high this year and use it as that bit of extra motivation for the rest of this year to win a comp.

That 1 or 2% might make all the difference.

No guarantees he will still be the same player next year.

Anyway Canberra have got a lot right in recruitment in recent times so they will back there judgement.

He’s also on 4/5ths of f**k all. He wouldn’t save us on cap and probably doesn’t really move needle as a trade piece.
I’ve been disappointed that he hasn’t cracked on after his awesome couple of games last year, but he’s still young, cheap and ok so if he’s your 3rd/4th/5th string edge, that’s how you build a decent squad after splurging on your 1st choice edge.
Ideally yep I’d take one of Kolomantagi or Fermor or maybe Fifita then have Kautoga (hopefully he doesn’t have 2nd year dip) with Guymer pushing Kautoga to hold his spot.

I think it’s definitely more this:

I am neither fussed if he goes or stays.

Guymer is more a symptom of us being weak in edge forwards. He isn’t the reason why we’re weak there.

Guymer is more of a middle than an edge but he seems to be able to now be able to play both and has got better as the season has gone on. Defensively he is promising. Why would we want to move him on?
