There’s competing factors, but the point at which Alamoti is enough of an output improvement on Penisini, he’s going to cost more than is feasible to carry both.
Mate how much do you reckon Penisini is on? I’d hazard a guess and say he is very good bucks, based on his “potential”. And why do we need to carry both? Let’s be f**king ruthless for a change.

As others have said Simmo is also gone.

And why do people keep carrying on about “where do you play him”? When was the last time we ran out with our ultimate 17?? It almost never happens!

Id suggest we’d have plenty to have him.

Suggesting he is not as good at centre is f**king stupid. He is a premiership winning centre with a hero f**king performance for Penrith literally last year.

Give me strength!

If we don’t have Penisini, sure but you got your grass is greener glasses on. Alamoti for Penisini is kiddy pool stuff. Can all but guarantee you’d see f**k all difference.

Did you notice Simonsson not playing most of this season? Cause I didn’t so why do we need to replace him with someone who’s going to cost even more. And I reckon Simonsson was in most people’s top 17 start of the year.

If you really want Alamoti, where were you 2 years ago when I suggested it?!?! We’d have got him a hell of a lot cheaper then and had the benefit of the past 2 years of him being the greatest centre of all time.

Move on. We’re 1000 times better off looking at upgrading 5/8th to a Burton or Metcalf or adding a Kolomantangi, Duncan, Siua Wong or Mitch Barnett to the pack. Dylan Lucas, Mariota, Preston, Piakura, Nikora, the list goes on for players who would have a far greater impact on our squad than Alamoti. Heck you want a centre? At the same time Alamoti is available, we could instead target Howarth, Best, Pompey, Campbell Graham or f**ken Koula.

A lot of Penisini's errors have nothing to do with whose passing him the ball.

Like the game against Newcastle where it was a dry warm afternoon and stuff all intensity/pressure from the opposition we won by 60 but Will made 4 errors and a lot of them were just easy drops.

He got away with the penalty try at the end but I dare say more players hold onto it anyway and would have scored.

It took 57 mins yesterday for Penrith to even make a mistake in similar conditions.

Do many trust Will to go through a game without dropping the ball.

If I’m constantly getting balls fed to me on a platter by Cleary, Yeo, Edward’s and Tago than I’m sure Id look like a better prospect than Penisini….
He didn’t exactly get the “ball fed to me” from Yeo or Cleary in that clip above I shared to clinch the grand final win…

Not really once the dogs are done with him this year or next he won't be playing in the NRL again most likely off the superleague
He turns 30 next year. Of course he's at the end of his career. This is a guy who didn't debut until he was almost 23. Late start tends to mean less talent, which means a lower peak and a shorter career. But he was definitely good enough for the NRL this year and the last few. He deserved his 100 games, though he might not get to 150.

Centre. I’d f**k Penisini off to reserve grade to work on his game.

We absolutely need competition for spots. That’s been a huge problem with our squads outside backs for the last few years imo.
Alamoti is a much dumber player than Penisini. He gets by on brute strength and the fact Penrith can (usually) cover him in defence. He's a dangerous attacking player though. Up there with Marzhew. But he's not a centre.

We’ve all been waiting for Penisini to reach his potential but season after season of dropped balls, poor defensive reads and just general boneheaded decisions the jury is out.
This is his worst season, at least statistically, since he came into first grade:

It's the first year he's ever been outplayed by Alamoti, and I think both are victims/heroes of their respective teams.

It's easy to play wing or centre at Penrith. Look at Crichton's form since leaving. Merkins still talk about his exploits at Penrith, because apart from his defence, he's played worse at Canterbury:

The problem is that if Simmonson goes, as seems probable, there isn’t really a backup centre on our books that is up to even a few games at NRL level. Tago is dross at that level, Nanva is yet to do a NRL pre season, and that’s about it
You don't rate Richard Penisini? He doesn't turn 21 until next year and has defended very well at centre in NSW Cup.
