Genuine question, were the games we lost when Moses was out down to Hawkins performance or more generally the team overall?

Footy Dean is a pretty solid replacement for Moses so I'm hoping we go for an out and out 6 if we aren't relying on developing Joash into that role.
That's fair enough, too. Hawkins is solid. But I think Pezet has the makings of an extremely good footballer. I don't think Joash does. And who are the specialist five-eights on the market currently?

I believe how one performs at the highest level speaks volumes.

Clearly has had the best of the best around him at Origin time, and failed to deliver.

Moses consistently delivers the goods.

When was the last time a NSW halfback won a series decider in Queensland?

Clearly is a fine player, no doubt - but Moses is the man, imo.
I prefer Moses over Cleary

But the Chindog has won 4 premierships

Moses is 4 from 12 in finals and lets be honest his sacrifice was great and understandable in that prelim but has he won Parra a big game like cleary has for Penrith.

Moses prelim performance was probably up there with his top 10 worst games for Parra and we still got into a GF in spite of Moses having a shocker.

Not his fault given the circumstances but overall the resume Cleary has Moses covered.

I wasnt around in the 80s but does anyone talk about Sterlo through his poor origin record or his 4 premierships.

Its the latter.

The only time Sterlo and origin get mixed together was the time he couldn't get through the banner in LA.

I would much prefer Sanders return if by all reports that Pezet is being pursued by the Raiders. And if that’s true and he does end up there, I think we would be a big chance to see the homecoming.

Both teams would win out with combinations that make much more sense.

Didn't Sterlo win 4 MOTM in 14 games???

So you’re putting the house on Lorenzo & Fletcher being first graders?
@Poupou Escobar care to respond if you agree or want to include them with your assessment of Latu being shit?

No. This is a case of Pou arguing with my statement and leaving out the most critical information. Ill repeat.
I'd rather Wishart over Pezet. Reasons why?

- His cost will be what he is worth. Not paying for potential.

- Pezet is an unknown quanity with plenty clubs prepared to pay overs.

- Wishart can play halves, Lock,Hooker. Far nore versatile.

- IF Fletcher or Lorenzo step up which is a MAYBE then Wishart would do just as well at lock. Walker isn't young and cant play 80 anyhows. Keep in mind these guys are very highly rated. Do we want to risk losing them?

- Lastly we have a halfback. One of the best in comps. If he is injured we ain't winning shit regardless of Pezet.

What motivation does he have to leave Melbourne or do you think they can’t afford what he’s worth?

Agree but are we paying him to come here as half and having done so is he as effective in another position to justify the price?

No but nor does signing one player necessarily preclude us signing another. Pezet is ready now. It’s going to be at least a couple of years for the other 2. One season is a long time, 2 seasons is infinity.
And there’s 2 of them. What if they both step up. Bye bye Moses?

Well not with that attitude we won’t. And it’s very reductive, because unless then we’re signing someone better than Moses, we’re in same position. But I feel Ryles is trying to instil a system where if Moses is unavailable, we’re still competitive, and being competitive allows others opportunities to step up.

I’m not advocating for Pezet but there’s pros and cons for any signing.

Pezet is an investment in the future

There's a very real possibility we don't win a comp with Moses in the team, pezet on the other hand.

At origin level sure, but at club level I think Cleary is ahead. Although it's hard to compare. Maybe Cleary wouldn't be as dominant in a worse team.
Cleary is good in a team built around his strengths but take him out of that environment and he is not that dominant. They'd be better picking Moses for SOO and internationals as he appears to adapt better.
