This will be 3 new teams in basicaly 5yrs. Needing to find 90 players or lets say approx 60 genuine nrl players. This is basicaly 3-4 players out of every sides best 17.
You can see why the quality of the product is going to go down hill. I reckon just adding the Dolphins hurt the quality. Wait till we add 2 more sides.
Unless they start to develop a large stream of juniors which will take 10yrs.

This is the only way they'll ever be competitive. If they are successful one day, I think we'll look back on the appointment of Joey Grima as one of the most important signings they ever made. Has laid a lot of the ground work for junior development over there, just too soon at the moment for that to translate into first graders.
From the nrl's perspective this is a bit of a free hit with the money being tipped in by the government. A couple more years of junior development and running 2 Qld cup teams for a few years would've given them a better base. But if it doesn't work out they can just fast track another Qld team in their place

PNG will be an utter disaster.

I wasn't a fan on them coming into the comp. As it was a political pawn really.

And nothing has convinced me otherwise yet it will be good for the game.

The coverage yesterday for the games was 1990s stuff really.

And has any progress been made over there with the compound resorts they are supposed to be building for the players.

Pre-season starts for 2028 in 2 years time.

It generally takes 3 years to get that shit built here in Australia let alone a 3rd-world country.

It won't be ready so where do the players go then.

And on the players it will be mostly made up of reserve graders who will get overpaid and salaries inflated to top up squads and the lure of quick cash.

In terms of commercial success for the clubs and excitement for the fans here , PNG will be a disaster

The best thing the png will provide and that is a hopefully too , is down the track it is a source of additional players for the competition

With regards to PNG Chiefs (okay name) I am of the opinion that the population thing is a bit misleading. There may be 15million of them but there is only 700k in Port Morseby. I think 80% of the population live very differntly to what we can get our head around. I wonder if it is not a case of people from Port Morseby and Lae are massive NRL fans but 85% of the population are not or are at least less so.

Yeah I don't really care at the end of the day if Lomax leaves I would like us to replace him with a player with the same attributes.

The opinion of signing Kennedy was just that but seemed to have upset a few on here so I thought I would just Pou it and troll for a few...

Played rugby 7s for NZ in 2018.

I think he may now stay but considering what went down at end of this year.

I think he has a lot of work to do to earn back the trust and respect of the coaching staff especially.

Don't think he's a big enough 'name'. Realistically the only benefit of R360 stealing NRL players is to try and drum up interest with NRL supporters with that competition.

Most of the players linked there have pretty big profiles.

I've always had a soft spot for Superman but he had an all time dummy spit last year... he will have plenty of work to do to get back onside with staff, teammates and us the fans.

Realistically though he is far and away our next best option to play wing in the Club currently if Lomax is gone so unless they can find someone else hopefully he does hang around.

This was in the main forum. Why are people shocked when the likes of Haas, Munster, Walsh & Cleary get linked to it? Are we assuming Lomax & Jye Gray are their only targets within NRL? That seems unlikely to me. If they’ve approached one player, I reckon they’ve approached them all.
