Question - was it because the coach was not identifying the sort of players we needed, or because the office was bad at negotiating?
I have faith in Ryles.
Maybe a bit of both - listen to the TCT interview with MON. A few things he said stuck out:
1. He mentioned several times how clearly defined Ryles’ vision is. That made it easier for the RNR team to identify and pursue the type of player to fit that vision.
2. The playing history of the coaching staff had an impact on the squad, including Sam Moa’s impact on the Pacifica boys. In short, credibility.
It sounded like those were two high-value attributes he thought made a big difference.
Put another way, BA didn’t have the clear vision Ryles has, and the previous coaching staff didn't have the same credibility with the playing squad.
And it’s also worth noting he spent a lot of time talking about how good Pezet will be and what a great character he is. Zero time even hinting how/why we couldn’t get him.
