‘Distressed assets’ aren’t forced to come to Parra. Just because they have to leave one club doesn’t mean there’s no demand for them. The market is still a factor.

As for the attraction of the new facility, give it time. It’s been open for just over six months.
Just stop with these circular , say nothing responses. Tiresome.

And was the answer yes? I hope it was and we do not fold and let him out of contract without a swap deal etc.

That’s if he plays NRL that is.
He won’t be able to play for another club until 2029 (I think that’s the right year).

I guess my point is both parties (TCT and MON) were guilty of playing one sided tennis there; talking the benefits Pezet brings, positioning the signing as some kind of mutually beneficial deal for us in the long term, and staying silent on the part about the club falling short for a player that was on the market.
After he signed with the Broncos, he was only on the market for 2026. It was that or nothing.
The discussion was in the context of the club’s roster. Totally fair for one party to fess up to failure/loss or the other to at least dig into the deal.
TCT asked if Lomax was locked out of playing for another NRL club, so it’s not as if questions were limited to ‘who’s in and who’s out’.
Why is the Pezet signing a failure? Because we won't have a future elite halfback playing second fiddle to Moses for half a decade?

Which clubs recruitment guys are doing a good job? And which are doing a below average job?
Let's look at the data to see who has consistently strong/weak rosters. I've gone with five years because it covers the length of most playing contracts, plus it's about the length of time most of our football operations staff have been at the club:

ClubFive year win rate
Panthers76%
Storm71%
Sharks59%
Roosters59%
Raiders55%
Broncos54%
Rabbitohs52%
Cowboys50%
Eels50%
Sea Eagles50%
Dolphins44%
Warriors44%
Knights41%
Bulldogs38%
Dragons37%
Titans32%
Tigers26%

If you think wins are meaningless and only premierships matter, let's take another look at the table:

ClubFive year premiership tally
Panthers4
Broncos1
Bulldogs0
Cowboys0
Dolphins (only three years of data)0
Dragons0
Eels0
Knights0
Rabbitohs0
Raiders0
Roosters0
Sea Eagles0
Sharks0
Storm0
Tigers0
Titans0
Warriors0

If you aren't satisfied with a five year data set, feel free to do the calculations again with a different number of years. You can decide for yourself whether the 52% Rabbitohs staff are doing an average or above average job, but you'll find the Eels are absolutely an average club, getting average results. Whether you think heads need to roll for this comes down to your expectations. But after having watched this club for 40 years, I'd say you need to justify why you expect anyone's replacement would do better.

We did want him, didn’t we? If we got him at a price we were happy with, we would say we ‘succeeded’ in signing him.
I’m not saying it as a condemnation btw.
Call it what you like; Miss, loss, failure, whatever. We wanted him, didn’t get him long term.

middle of the road and no chance of a premiership = wild success.

Welcome to Pou World, where mediocrity is our business.

Loving mediocrity doesn't make you better or smarter than Eels fans, it just means you are resigned to losing and are conditioned to love it.

Of course, there is a more likely option at play, which is that you are not really a Parramatta fan and get your rocks off by taunting genuine Parra fans?

I guess my point is that signing him long term would be unrealistic. He’s too good to be second fiddle to any merkin.

The data showed me

Ivan Cleary is a tremendous coach with 4 premierships and a 76% win rate despite losing about 12 players in that period and he deserves more respect then what is given on here.
The same junior development/poaching pipeline that got him those 12 players also got him their replacements. The wheels are only just starting to fall off the Panthers pathways system, which is expected. That level of investment would be unsustainable, and Packer’s loan would run out eventually.

Gould has only been there for two years, so he’s hardly to blame.
Their recruiting is light years ahead of ours which is why they are on the up and we are falling behind. And Gould has been there since 2021, not too long after saw improved recruiting.

Why do you stake your presitige on the ground time after time on account of hapless loser strategies and even worse degenerate labor poltician accounts
