Lomax going was definitely a positive for the club...club first not me me me first.

Depth signing at best…. I still don’t think he even walks into the side. The Pezet signing shows Ryles is all about winning games this year so with that narrative it would be hard to disrupt the Russel/Fox combo.

Anyways I’m sure he will see plenty of first grade regardless. Hopefully his D can improve in a new system.

The need for backline players has been there for a while, Dylbro and Lomax means that we lost 2 Intl/Rep level backs and replaced then with a last minute rental and an average NRL player. We dont have the juniors ready currently, and having Tago in the top 30 and goodness me, Alemeddine training with the NRL squad shows how out of shape the roster is.

There should be enough cash to make some inroads, perhaps the leaking of our interest in KK was to show we do enter the market, but unfortunately as usual it went nowhere. All that can be said is “need to do better”

All true but we are competing with every other club for talent and it's pretty thin now, Tago in the top 30 is embarrassing but it's only this year , we still have 2 roster spots available so hopefully we can sign a genuine quality outside back

Yeah but it still happens. It’s the coach’s job to conjure up upsets.

Upsets depend on the stronger team failing. That might be within the control of the favourite’s coach but it’s not something the coach of the underdog can control.

We’ve been on the receiving end eg 2001 grand final, 2005 grand final qualifier, 2017 preliminary final. We’ve dished it out a few times as well eg 2009 week 1 finals, 2009 grand final qualifier. Brad Arthur came close a few times but he never managed to win as a signifi

We were $4+ underdogs twice and only lost by a goal. Whoever’s responsible for ‘getting the team up’ (imo it’s the senior players not the coach) definitely got them up in those games. Just because they lost to superior opponents doesn’t mean they didn’t play their best on the day. And yes the opposition were off their game that day to let us get so close. Is that the fault of Bellamy and Cleary? Both coaches have lost finals against $3 underdogs, so they have form. Bellamy’s actually done it three times.

Hasler’s one of the best coaches in the game. The Titans defensive problems are due to the roster, not Des Hasler.

Alamoti
Averillo
Arthars can play wing and fullback
Alamoti can play wing and centre
Averillo can play any position in the backline..

That’s fine but you want to get something for the club in return. We just let a world class back walk out the door and sign a f**king plodder like Brian Kelly.

Does our club ever sign a player that isn’t a discard, cast off or pissed off their present club?? We take the shit that no one wants.

We all get that O'Neil isnt your favourite person mate, and that you dont like the Kelly signing, but to claim he is a reserve grade signing is a bit disingenuous. He has played 20+ games of first grade every year bar 2 since making his debut.

He’s definitely a better attacking player than Russell. I’m keen to see Kelly’s defence outside a harder working pack.
