And what about the NRLW debacle in 2023.

It doesn't get talked about because half the fanbase still dont give a shit about NRLW.

But MON over saw that mess which ended up with Dean Widders basically getting thrown under the bus after they made a GF to then winning a spoon.

No other NRLW side had there roster savaged like ours due to expansion teams coming in.

There were plenty of excuses but thats all you get is excuses after the fact and not proper foresight and planning to prevent what had happened.

For mine I would go after Brian To'o and Moses Leota. These are the sorts of players we need desperately. Powerful runners of the ball and proven big game players that work well synergistically. They would transform our team instantly. We would start winning the go forward battle and the ruck like we haven't in years.

Our other players would then be energized and not gassed like so often right now. Two players that both play like bulls against the best that the NRL can throw at you. Players like Sam Tuivaiti and even Toni Mataele would thrive playing alongside Leota. Then even extending Junior for a year or two to come off the bench for 15-20 min stints in each half makes a lot of sense and a great asset for our team if we can use him properly.

We need grunt and power more than anything right now. I would go hard for those two and if we had the right recruitment team in place they are gettable, but we don't so it will be put in the to hard basket, if put in the basket at all.

Also whoever is the fitness trainer for the Panthers, I would recruit him too. They are the fittest team in the comp. I want some of that too. If you aren't the fittest team in the comp under these new 6 again rules, then you aren't winning anything no matter who you sign.

Id target both the McLean's. That would transform our backline.
And I'd be happy with Liam Martin also.
This is actually a bold strategy that I totally agree with. AIM for both brothers, but do not accept missing both!

Martin would really help with our “attitude” of the young forwards coming through. Yeah they love Paulo but he’s never been the alpha dog wanting to go hunting for scalps during a game. I can’t see him absolutely baking someone who is not putting in. Martin would be that guy.

Have we signed anyone since the clown said “my phone is ringing off the hook??

He’s pretty much the most incompetent man in RL.
His phone's ringing off the hook because these player managers want a superannuation payout for their players. No wonder they're pissed at having to deal with him. Koloamatangi will be 33 at the end of his current deal and probably the highest paid forward in the game. This has bitten us on the arse before, so why would we do it again?

i'm stunned he wasn't shown the door after giving every man and his dog in the team player options
thank god we re-signed mitch and took them out or i doubt he'd still be here
Our recruitment/retention decline coincided with us no longer offering POs. Anyway the only one that burnt us was Matterson's. The rest helped us build a team capable of scraping into a grand final.

Apparently no one told the Warriors or Storm, seems MON was aware of the issue 🙄
You can sign anyone right now if you pay top dollar. But there's still plenty of players yet to decide their 2027 plans. There are so many, and any of them would sign tomorrow if we paid stupid overs. Offering the biggest dollar amount isn't something to crow about.

They put all the blame on the bush coach and he was made the scapegoat, whilst the inept people in recruitment and retention got off scott free.

That sits squarely on Sarantinos's shoulders as putting the whole r&r f ups on the coach, who is expected to do both jobs is f ing ridiculous.

Whilst im no fan of Arthur and his favourites policy, O'neill should have followed him out the door.

The ball is now in Sarantinos court to sort out this ridiculous situation, but i have zero confidence in him and foresee Ryles as the next scapegoat, with the two stooges to continue with this inept situation.
