The question of PO’s have been discussed exhaustively here and I don’t think there’s much I can add. I can see their value and flaws.
The better question/s is ‘*could* or *should* it have been different?’. The answer is yes to both.
Evidence: we lost three halves, other clubs retain high value players all the time without ‘ten year’ deals.

I’d heard on the grapevine prior to Apa’s debut last week that he was very unlikely to be be with us 27. No real path to first grade in his preferred positions, and given a low offer as he’s only seen as backup to the club.

Yeah for his attack, which he can do just as well at fullback. He defended at 70% in that game. He's not a man you want attempting 20 tackles in the NRL.

I’m not sure how good twiddle is. He came in against 12 men who were fatigued. He did play well. But if we didn’t have those injuries he wouldn’t have gotten close to the field and no one would care he is unsigned for 27. He seems like he could become useful but he is injured now and might not get near nrl again.
