Is it just this year ? Is he off contract for 2017 ?

I believe Farah's deal runs until the end of 2017. So Taylor (or which ever poor schmuck takes over next) is hamstrung with an egomaniac who thinks he's bigger than the club taking up a million bananas until the end of season 2017

I think so

Wests Tigers want to tear up the final year of Chris Lawrence's lucrative contract, with a view to replacing it with a new one that keeps him at the club for two more seasons.
The Tigers are under immense salary cap pressure for 2017, due in part to massive back-ended deals for Lawrence and Farah.
Farah is on the best part of $1 million next year, while Lawrence is on $600,000. Those commitments alone make it difficult to retain several off-contract players they want to keep, let alone go into the open market.

Top class defence performing for 80 minutes can nullify the loss of Junior Paulo next season. Brad Arthur being so strong on defence must be looking for 2017 defensive strengths to counter the attacking strike power of all oppositions, well at least to minimise the leaking of points while having the attacking arsenal in place to put on more points than the opposition, week after week......

With such an attitude supported by room in the cap to purchase and retain such a squad, things are not as dour as first perceived when the reality of loosing Junior Paulo to Ricky's fantasy-world came about.

Who does BA buy?

Who does BA bring forward from Wenty/Under 20's?

What tinkering to his group of coaches does he do?

Can see the brainwaves of BA, DA, SM, etc...... burning candles late at night.

Maybe Joseph Ualesi can finally take the next step. From all reports he was training very well in pre-season and according a regulars at training sessions was a dark horse for a bench spot. The injury he suffered in the pre-season obviously put paid to that.

He's listed as being 1.95m and ~110kgs if I'm reading correctly. Those sorts of physical attributes are similar to Junior. Same age. Maybe he'll just develop a little later. If he can view Paulo's exit as his opportunity and work hard between now and Round 1 2017, who knows, the player we need might be already under our noses. I dare say he may need to work on his endurance...

1.95m?

No one really impressed me over the weekend after watching maggies vs mounties.

Maybe tanginoa.

Moss didnt do much for me. Neither did Cornish.

Matterson in the NYC looked good

The times I've seen him play I thought Ualesi had a good NRL future in front of him.

Agreed about his endurance and maybe he's just a late bloomer, not that consistent top class props don't reach their prime until the mid/late twenties.

He has had quite a few injuries over the past three years which have held him back too.

Agree Moss is junk
Cornish is average
Uelsai needs match fitness and showed a few glimpses.

There are plenty of guys in Wenty that can fill in if need be.None that will be stars thou.

So which ways will BA go Hindy111?

a) Replace Junior with another top class prop?

b) Improve defensive structures and our attack (refer to my earlier post above)?

c) Combine a) and b)?

You were raving about Moss in the pre season even though everyone was telling you he's too small and just average. whats changed?

I was going off Goulds comments....

But then i watched him play - And it is what worries me about French. To play NRL you need size

You need balance Casper. To many workers is not ideal but better then to many impact style forwards ( will leak points )
You have your workers in Alvaro - Mannah - Twal ( pushing next year id say )
Wicks and terepo are a little more then workers - They can offload and have a bit more power to the game.
What makes Jnr so great is he compliments what we have. At worse we want another Wicks/terepo style player. You do not want 2 workers like Alvaro/Mannah in the same team without a JNR style prop thou.
Perhaps need 4 guys like your Wicks/Terepo to help tire out the opposition.
No offense to Alvaro but his runs would not take to much energy out of the other team. I am not a huge fan of Mannah. At his best he can be solid and is a good first grader that every team needs. But when he is below his best he is just an average prop.
People on here get a little carried away with our pack. Have a look at the cowboys - There are big powerfull wrecking balls all over the place.
Unless Tepai becomes that hard power runner i think our pack will be ordinary next year without Jnr.

Alvaro has potential but im not sold on him yet. Has no OOmph. We should of went for Shaun Lane- This is the type of kid we need!

2017 Classy NRL Standard

Props With Ooomph

So far we don't seem to have a good one to replace Junior Paulo.

Maybe Tepai could be turned into one?

What about our midget wrecking ball Kelepi Tanginoa?

What about converting Folau or Faraimo or both?

2017 Prop Work-Horses

Mannah
Alvaro
Wicks
Terepo
Tepai
Hasson?
Twal - may not be ready for the weekly NRL grind.

Unsure of the status of Rory O'Brien, Telepi, Ualesi

2017 Prop Offloaders/Ball Players

Do we have one?

Gower as an occasional back up 13 (he ain't no real prop though).

Kelepi would hold his own and should play NRL this year. I reckon he offers more then Alvaro and id pick him before.

Uelsai - Some promise.

Neither are going to go from Wenty players to top 10 props in game thou. They could take an Alvaro or Terepo spot.

Aren't there millions of superior physical specimens who don't make the cut in NFL? Surely prop is one of the easiest positions to learn.

How many years to get the stamina we need out of them each week?
And how many years to get all the other prop skills required out of them.

I reckon we go far and wide through Fiji and pacific Islands to find our next prop superstar, maybe a rugby convert not deeply brainwashed from too much exposure to rah rah, which may be impossible to find.

Well our 2017 8 and 10 cupboards are really bear.

Gaining certainty is far better than a promise and a prayer.

Can't see stamina taking more than a year to build up. Nor the skills. They run with the ball, or they tackle the bloke who has the ball. That's 90% of it anyway.
