Boy, oh boy what a disappointment Tepai Moeroa has been thus far in his first grade career.

Sure last year, he had a shoulder injury to contend with and rightly, I and others gave him the benefit of the doubt. But this year he has no such excuse to fall back on.

Now is it due to apparently being born with the nerves in his shoulder being to close to the surface of the shoulder, as it was once explained in the TV commentary I think earlier in the year and therefore will always trouble him physically and mentally? I honestly don't know.

But what I do know for such a massive unit, with so many wraps and expectations on him, and this years new rules, he has been the biggest disappointment in our team by far.

Not once yet this year has he gone anywhere near breaking 100m in a game in attack. That is incredible and totally indefensible I should think even by the biggest apologist on this forum.

My new scapegoat, hardly cause I don't think that we lost because of him at all(It was due to our fullback) but just an observation and I fear I will be lamenting the loss of Junior next year while watching Tepai the powder puff being upstaged by supposed a toilers like David Gower, as he has already done this year.

As for Bevan French, I still stand by my words, he will struggle to make it in the NRL.

Sure he has talent, but so do many others, just like a very young and talented Reece Robinson once did.

By the way we lost the game yesterday due to the difference in quality of the two fullbacks.

It doesn't take a Rhodes scholar to see how a great No#1 changes the complexion and confidence of a team like Penrith, who up until this point were leaking points like a spaghetti strainer and yet found a way to defend well enough and then out score the best defensive team in the league.

Sure Michael Gordon is a good fullback, but he isn't a patch on the top 8 or 9 fullbacks of the game and there in lies our problem.

And as my previous post suggested, I don't think French is the answer.

I agree Moeroa has been disappointing in attack, but he is playing long minutes in the middle to cover for Paulo's defensive sluggishness.

Moera had his best game in attack for us in first grade to date.

He nearly produced two tries with offloads and footwork when the game was in the balance. They broke down due to errors by other players.

Vastly wrong scapegoat for yesterday imo and was one of our best.

Poor discipline giving away penalties and poor execution is why we loss.

It is an odd game to make the Gower/ Moeroa comparison...
Gower was all of 2 runs for 22m yesterday. Moeroa had 11 for 81m

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the lowest meterage Moeroa has made so far this year has been 72m in a game? So he is showing great consistency in that middle third, playing 50-60m every week, and producing accordingly for the centre third backrower...

The main charge for the middle third guy is to hit it up through the guts like a prop - but to defer that to the props (who get interchanged more frequently); and to have a higher workload in defence.
The kid is making decent meterage per carry, and lots of tackles, and providing 'oomph' in defence as well.

Just a weird rant Ram....

He had 81 metres with three tackle breaks and two offloads as well.

He's still a kid in his second full season and his first was under duress.

If anything is to blame the failure to include Alvaro coming off a massive performance last week, and being a like for like replacement for Tim, may be more of a factor.

We will never know.

We nearly won anyway and had some awful luck with a massive forward pass not called prior to the massive reversal decision.

Then they got reasonably lucky with a bomb following six again.

It's hardly doom and gloom especially as there are glimpses of what our best looks like which are pretty encouraging
