Tiger town split: Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah part ways
By Michael Chammas
July 18, 2024 — 3.53pm

The Wests Tigers and Robbie Farah have agreed to part ways at the end of the season as the NRL cellar-dwellers search for more experience in the coaching ranks to assist Benji Marshall.

Farah, who is off contract at the end of this season, met with Marshall on Wednesday to discuss his future at the club and whether he would continue as Marshall’s assistant in 2025.

Marshall – one of Farah’s closest friends, having spent more than two decades together at the joint venture club – informed him he had decided someone with more experience was needed to assist with the club’s rebuild.

Farah, who has a number of outside business interests, has been considering his future for the past month and was unsure if he wanted to remain part of the coaching staff after two tumultuous seasons.

Marshall and Farah came to the conclusion that it was in everyone’s best interest for the arrangement to end after this season. The parting was ratified at a board meeting on Monday night.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity in order to speak freely told this masthead that Farah was relieved with the decision and holds no animosity towards Marshall or the club.

Farah declined to comment, while Marshall did not respond to this masthead’s attempt to contact him.

Farah, who runs the team’s attack alongside Marshall, will finish up at the end of the season. Fellow assistant coach John Morris, who runs defence, is expected to remain on the football staff.

Farah was parachuted into the club’s assistant coaching role as part of the Tim Sheens regime two years ago despite harbouring an ambition to work in the football administration side of the business.

It’s unclear whether he will remain at the club in a different role from next season.

I'd expect Jarome to running our attack next year, ala Scott Prince in 2005
....and Scotty assistant coach.
I've got a sneaky that he wants the gig. What's he up to these days, is he still coaching the Broncos Fillies?

No gang signs ..unless I missed them.
We might get a mature Luai as well..only an idiot wouldn’t learn from the reactions to his past behaviour

Hearing a rumour To'o is asking for an early release to join Tigers in 2025. Seems like complete horseshit, but if it's true it would be huge for us.
1. Bula
2. Steins
3. Turuva
4. Olam
5. To'o
6. Galvin
7. Luai

4 former Penrith boys ripping it up in our backline would be mental

It's pretty hard to believe and maybe I could have believed it a little except for the asking for an early release part.
