Hopefully Mason will step up, the kid has been kicking goals from just about anywhere on the field since he was 10 years old, if he is solid defensively this weekend he should stay in the side.
I can't wait to see him play in his preferred position. He's also a better defensive ⅝ than any player we've had in that position this season.
He and Luai should play well together.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Latu if Mason absolutely nails it.....any ideas?
What's wrong with Api kicking? If Api is off then Mason can kick.
Also the bench is weird with no specialist dummy half. If DaSilva was on the bench he is also a handy goal kicker.

Hope Mason kills it & im backing the kid to excel.Latu is a huge worry due to being so prone to injury.Re what happens to Latu if Mason nails it it’s certainly not something to worry about coz Latu is rarely available for selection.

I see it more as we can't have Latu's long term contract money sitting in reserve grade.
As you said Ted, he's been out through injury so we've had crumbs so far.
The longer we don't use his services the more his contract becomes a fail for Benji.
Our CEO has tried to offload a plethora of halves...Sullivan, Sezer and juggled Fainu, Galvin and Luai.
The whole halves debacle is worrying.
We need depth but that should come from development players like Haywood. (next year)
Mason hasn't had enough regular first grade experience. I think ideally, on paper, Latu and Jarome should be our halves with Mason making short cameos in the event of injuries etc.

The thing with Latu & bear in mind I’ve been optimistic re his capabilities is that the jury is still out on whether he can cut it in the halves. We desperately need this kid to put a reasonable sequence of games together in the halves without getting injured.Im starting to have reservations as to whether he will be our long term answer to the halves dilemma.

Agree.
Do you think Latu's injury run is:
a. Legitimate injuries that have kept him out,
b. niggling injuries that benji has given him time to get over whilst Luai and LG were the first choice pairing,
c. smoke screen because Fainu was experiencing other issues,
d. Poor coaching and roster mismanagement,
e. combination of all 4.

From memory, Benji had injuries when he first started with us, he appears to have the smarts about the game, but no much with self preservation in defence, IMO, he'll get past that and I think he will end up being the long term 7 for us.

Well it's time. I was waiting for AD or Naden to play ⅝ :) We seem silly enough to do something like that.

I’ve no doubt it’s a & the kid is just having a wretched run with injuries. My concern is with the chronic hammy the damn prob is the likelihood of it recurring. He may need to eventually go to the USA & see the expert Bill Knowles who both Turbo & Latrell went to see

Good stuff Ted.
Hey just on Tommy Turbo. Is he a liability or what? I reckon the guy lacks an athlete's physique. He looks unfit.

I see Junior Tupou has been given permission by the Dolphins to explore his options with other clubs.
Would we let him come back.
His departure wasn't ugly and I think he was reluctant to leave in the first place.
At the right price he could be good depth because I cant see him in front of Skelton and Turuva unless he can play centre.

Hearing we’re nearing a deal with a better than average centre, not 100% on it, but if we get him it’ll be an absolute coup. Dude is versatile too, can play any position from 5/8 to fullback

Don’t want to say, just in case it’s not yet a done deal, but it’ll be bigger than jagging Luai, if it comes off, and I doubt they’ll have any change out of what they offered that fella that went to the dogs. Got to qualify the rumour by saying it’s just that ….. a rumour and the sources reliability (not me😂) cannot be judged.

It sounds like Manu. I give us no chance in hell but I'd love to be wrong.

For someone who has not played regular first grade, Latu is pretty well paid by us. There would be more pressure on him to get fit and deliver than on us losing him. He really needs to show something this year.
At least with Benji, it was pretty obvious his talent was good reason for keeping him....despite injuries which at the time, were more serious injuries than Latu has been receiving. He had some career threatening shoulder issues but did get over them with time.
Latu does not have the time Benji had to deliver.

If it's Crichton tell him we'll certainly think about it

Thank f**k, Brown has signed elsewhere, one less to worry about.

Maybe Burton, he may not be happy about flipper dick taking his spot?
