Anyone else feel like revisiting the predictions thread lately?
Every week I think a certain player are going to have a breakout year, like our centres.
Centres are starting to become the backbone of the backs. They are the link between backs and forwards.
I guarantee if May and To'a play really well then our wingers Skeleton and Turuva will score more tries.
To'a was the inform centre at the start of last year so I can imagine he will play even better with our improved roster.
Our bench is so important and Benji must get this right too.

Sounds right mate. I think he's being forced out simply because of better players. They have to weigh up is he better than Twally, Seyfarth, Fainu's. Most of our depth aren't locks or utilities but it would be hard to select Bird I think over what we have.
I'd pick a fit Latu as a bench utility over Bird.
If we rolled back the clock to Birds best years he'd be one of the first backs picked.

We’d want to be in and about the top 8 by mid season if we are supposed to be progressing.

We could stomach a couple of close games against top sides, but no more being flogged senseless.

No more meek surrenders because we are gassed by round 18.

Re: Bula, while it is not yet confirmed, I think he is a very good player and if we get to the finals, then nothing is overs, if we can afford it.
He is only 23 and starting his 4th season and has played less than 60 games, give him another 2 seasons he'll be up there around the 100 games, which is where most FG's get maturity for the game.
It's my understanding that they have reduced the $900k offer for this season and added extra years on a slightly lesser salary, $800k has been mentioned, but I don't know if that's been confirmed.
I don't think that's unreasonable spine money.

We just need to finish this and get on with season 26.

If he was marquee now, we probably couldn't afford to keep him, his manager would make sure of that, but his up side is huge and yes, we are paying for him to come on in a season or two.

I don't think so, they are professional sportsmen, they all know tomorrow they could get moved on or injured and life goes on.
The same thing happened with the board fiasco, Benji said it didn't affect them at all.
They know, they'll always get their money at the end of the day.
It does destroy the loyalty issue though, as both club and player don't seem to show it too much these days. Whether that's a bad thing or not, I don't know. We kept Brooks for ever and it didn't work out too well for us.
But, you can't win every decision.
