Why ? I don't see why this has to happen. Every player makes mistakes. Walsh was crud at the start of last season and he turned into the best player in the game.

You can't expect players to be perfect for the whole season. He will make mistakes but so will every player.

Benji just has to get the game plans and team structures right and manage every player as best as he can.

Yes and no. He is going to be the cherry on top. If we are getting smashed in the middle and our spine are crud it's not his fault.

In stating that I do think that there are big expectations on him.

TBF, there's a lot of pressure on all FG players.
As long as they don't start making youth related excuses, if he makes a mistake.
We all know he's still learning FG.

He’s still a rookie and earned his way into the trials, but beyond that, let’s wait and see.

There’s no point being big and fast without good decision making and we need to instill and/or preserve the good character traits.

Let’s say he is the next big thing, there’s a risk that he turns into a Latrell Mitchell who barely manages to play half the game’s possible through suspension etc and has become the most expensive player in the game.

I guess my point is that there are a lot of boxes to tick, a lot of water to pass under the bridge before he can take his place and realise his potential.

And I’d love him to be the best player and person he can be.

He wasn’t found wanting down that side line. The stuff he was doing was by instinct coz there was no time to think. That was what is usually 5-10 years experience right there…also he’s a Leo so that means extreme inner confidence, never ever panics, extreme aggression when needed, like Sonny bill, Paul gallan Suaailli All Leo’s . tough c’s. not to be fked with - don’t be fooled by his humble demeanour. This boys ready for war..he will eat all the pressure that comes his way for breakfast then spit it out ..everyone will say how humble he is.. that’s just his inner calm..

My take is do Sualli or Marky Mark need special guidance and the answer is no. If you are one of those elite athletes the coach just has to tell the team to give you the ball.

I agree to not be fooled by the humble demeanor. You can be humble but ready to take on the big moments. That run down the sideline and bulldozing people off wasn't tentative at all.

My son got busted at school and I told him you just tell them it was tobacco. He told me his friends already admitted it was pot.

Nowadays you just get it at the chemist anyway. It might though be banned in the NRL.

Yeah, it’s not a good look.

Drugs are rampant in the nrl and many other sports unfortunately.

The nrl player, he has to look after his or her body. Mary J isn’t good for it.

I’ve seen people destroy themselves with it. Not many, but enough to know it’s rubbish.

It re-wires the brain in some cases after a lot of time.

As is excessive grog etc.

Pot ??

I've seen alcohol destroy lives. I've seen pot been an issue but not like alcohol. Two guys I grew up with smoke way too much pot. One guy doesn't have any money and him and his wife smoke it all the time. I can't say it's destroyed their lives though. The guy who isn't married has destroyed his life but alcohol and gambling have been the real issues and not the pot.

Alcohol though and gambling have done so much damage to people I know. Pot to me is the mildest drug of all of them and the difference between it and Alcohol is huge.

I'm not saying it's good but Alcohol in moderation is fine.

Abuse of pot changes how you think and some folk can’t recover from that. I’ve seen it. One can play Russian roulette and think one can handle it, but you won’t know.

We agree on grog and gambling.

Some people can’t even handle moderate grog. I’ve seen that too. They can become abusive

Drugs affect people differently depending on the person.

There’s nothing good about gambling. Sometimes I work in an affiliated industry. It should be more heavily regulated because… it’s an utter scam.

Most of the victims of gambling, they are problem gamblers. They go back and back and back and back and welcomed with open arms, free drinks and all that. It’s horrid.

Unfortunately Vlandy’s seems addicted to it.

It’s fine untill you give it up. I stopped in May last year .. then had a bit on Nov coz I was on a 3 day beach holiday none since. It’s a pretty different world. I’m amazed I gave up. I tried fof 30 years and failed. Just have to get to day 30. That’s the hardest thing to do
