While I agree somewhat with your comments ECT, I think the original post is to do with the consistency in which charges are laid.

In regards to fights though, has anyone been suspended since Weyman got 8 weeks in round 4? I must have seen over a dozen decent dust ups since then and nothing has come of it. So what is the rule? You are suspended if you can actually land one or what? No consistency whatsoever.

Billy will get off becuase butter wouldnt melt in his mouth.

Surely the fact Soward had a go at him for supposedly rooting Jana Pittman a few years ago is cause enough to try to put a couple on his bum-fluff covered chin.

wasn't it tamsyn lewis he was stoinking?

I thank you,ECT for posting a decent opinion.
You're exactly right, the bloke threw some punches and was a bit aggressive but that's it and it's not like it hasn't happened before.
In saying that I think he should be cited because he needs to remember he's a professional footballer and handle his anger in a respectable manner...but people should stop making out like he tore somebody's head off!

It had nothing to do to with him. And Soward had 3 guys on him.

Do you think for one second he'd have done the same if it was a forward ?

He's a cat.

If he gets suspended the NRL really is screwed. That incident was about the only interesting thing that happened all weekend in a competition that is becoming so boring and monotonous I can hardly watch a full game. I am certain that he will be suspended however but that will only prove how out of touch the NRL is. The fact that jealous, vindictive fans want every player in the game suspended for long periods after every minor incident, usually only because it is not one of their players or occured against their side, also only proves how narrow-minded and selfish fans are. If NRL players aren't robotic enough we want to now take what little agression and spirit they have out of the game as well. If anyone in that game should be suspended it should that tratorious union prostitute Gasnier. He is the only player on that field that is bringing RL into disrepute, and not for the first time.

It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go. It's not his go..

That will be Matthew Johns defending his lover on Thurs night.
"Look ya know....a bit of a fight, na harm done....not really in Billys nature to do that...and the punches he threw wouldnt hurt a grape"

Go on Matthew.....give me your best excuse.

Geez I must be in a minority as i thought generally the ref had a good game. He took decisive action for a brawl, the likes of which we haven't seen for some time, and then at the very next scrum Ryles kicks out twice (all be it with some provication) and the ref fearing another all in flair up took decisive action. I am sure the ref would have only seen the kick by Ryles so acted on what he saw. FACT, Ryles doesn't kick the guy he doesn't get sent off!

If he did nothing and that incident led to a number of fights the rest of the game you would have been calling him weak and that he'd lost control. Funny how there was no more trouble after the send off!

I've seen a lot worse decisions than that in my time.

Don't suspend any of them, BRING BACK THE BIFF!

Best part of this weekends Rugby imo and listen how it got the crowd fired up and into the game. That's what will bring people to the games, passion, atmosphere and a bit of biff!

Ive got no problem with a good old fashioned dust up, in fact i love them. what i dont like is a grubby little corward running in and throwing punches at a player with his back turned, then proceeding to throw plenty more at a bloke being held by 3 of his team mates.

slater is a cat and sh*ts himself when someone actually shapes up to him face to face after his done something when they were helpless. see the skando incident then the 2006 grand final on berrigan (who is probably smaller then slater, but billy still was scared sh*tless when shaun shaped up to him).

PerthRed .. thats true ... but in the same incident right in front of the same ref the storm merkin did exactly the same thing ... no action resulted.

Thats most peoples main grief ..

Also, where was Bill ... They went back a whole set to ping Gallen on the weekend for a high shot on the video refs call but Bill was quiet at the time .. He HAD to tell Badger what happened so that he could take the same decisive action with the instigator of the event.

So he didn't see what happened in the scrum before Ryles kicked out??? It happened right in front of him. What I'm most pissed off about is the fact that the ref took the contest out of the game.

Also - his decisive action in the brawl was hopeless ... Soward did nothing ... If any Dragons players deserved to go it should have been Scott not Soward ...

Badger lost control plain and simple and more importantly lost objectivity.

i dont think Rugby league fans have any problems with a bit of biff in the game. However, its the way slater came in and threw those punchs that most fans object to......especially when precedents have been set and other players have been suspended for doing the same.

I thought billy only started to throw punches at nightingale when he got in billy's face?

:lol::lol: you obviously missed the first cheap shot billy launched from behind the pack of players, that was before nightingale was involved

how can you get in someones face when your being held back by 3 players?

At one point they were one on one, then other storm players grab Nightingale.. Slater then saw this as an opportunity to throw some punches..

He was a class act last night..

I think it stemmed from an incident a few years ago at the SFS where Slater broke Soward's nose in an off the ball incident with a late elbow well after he passed the ball in setting up a try.. Conveniently the match review committee overlooked that incident too..

Agreed.
