At least one good thing came out of the Grand Final. Ryles wins a premiership. Shame he could not do so at the Dragons but he deserved to retire as a premiership winner.

Even though he did not play in the GF he had a pretty good season.

Would have loved to see Ryles at Saints when Bennett was there.

Agree 100%. Very happy for him. Must have cut him in '10. Shame he didn't get to play under Bennett, but it just as good playing under Bellamy. Both know how to get the best out of their forwards.

He was another scape goat, & coped it delux in '07-'08, even though he practically carried the team.

Fact had Ryles of played in the GF, The Bulldogs would of won by 30 and Ryles would be serving a 12 week suspension not Graham.

I agree 100%. He was enormous in those years.

Gee we have short memories, fair dinkum he was good for penalties at the most inappropriate times, that is why he copped it.

He did not win a premiership...he was sitting on the sidelines in cotton wool like he spent the bulk of his career at Saints. He was a f**king waste of space who single handedly lost us so many games over the years. He threw the most ridiculous hail Mary offloads I might add. This is the worst thread of the year without doubt. Pull your heads in

Very happy for him but he could almost singlehandedly lose a game for us unfortunately.

With the risk of upsetting a few, Ryles at his peak was awesome. Met him on 2 occassions at season launches. Loved the club immensely. Penalty prone? Yes. But anyone that doubts his effort has no idea. When i first met him he had just had been selected for the Kangaroos. I have nothing but respect for the man.

I have nothing but contempt for your opinion...loved the club??? Did he know the objective was to win games not lose them?

I think he has a contract for next year with Melbourne and on his day was/is a good player, just a little prone to giving away the odd penalty.

I particularly remember his "Afghanistan" comment.
When he was selected in the Kangaroos, but then there was doubt if the tour to England would proceed.
In the aftermath of S11 etc.

And he said something like - "I'll play in Afghanistan if necessary".

Loved it.

His critics often said he "looked like Tarzan, but played like Jane".
And maybe he did not reach his full potential.
But such is life.
Look at T-Rex.
A work still in progress.

You're OK Jase.
Pity you had that injury just before the GF - and missed playing.
Keep well.

I still remember that Sharks semi..02 I think it was. We were going that badly that I think Rylesy set up and scored our only try! A complete bonehead at times but he deserves a comp imo

Jason Ryles was one of those players who could win or lose a game for you. He did give away some stupid penalties when he was at the Dragons, but for people to bag him and question his love for the Dragons is seriously ridiculous. As supporters of the Dragons, we do show our passion for them, and it's easy to question someones loyalty but to play for the club for 9 seasons, you need to have a love. Maybe he tried too hard because of it. Pull that Red V on for 9 years and tell me you don't love that jersey!!

Poore was a far worse offender imo and copped no way near as much slack as Ryles did. He was a good player and gave it all. Was easily baited by the opposition unfortunatley which led to brain snaps but to have them it shows how much passion he had.

Loved the way Ryles stood up to the Storm forwards, then got sent off for nothing.
Hated how he gave away a penalty right in front in golden point against the Sharkies.
