Lessons to be learnt after Game 1:

1. It doesn't matter how good your backline is, if your forwards don't go forward!

2. There is no substitute for good coaching.

3. Play with 100% commitment and never give up.

4. You need a halfback with some ability to guide a team around the field, and put on good last tackle options.

Great first up game NSW!!! Hopefully the Eels pick up a lesson or two (or 4).

Well summarised. Two things struck me..

- How good is Wallace ?
- How easy is it to shut down the best hooker in the game when you know how ?

Bird was MOM? Weird.

Peter Wallace and Mark Gasnier were definitely NSW's best. Bird was very solid, but I'd rank him equal third with Paul Gallen as NSW's third best.
