The team balance is all wrong. One of Bresnan or Wright needed to play, and to eventually be developed, like Flintoff, into a Test-class allrounder.

Should have gone with:

1. Cook
2. Strauss
3. Trott / Bell
4. Pietersen (needs to use his spin-bowling a bit more IMO)
5. Collingwood
6. Prior (+)
7. Wright / Bresnan
8. Broad
9. Swann
10. Onions / Sidebottom (Sidebottom provides swing and left-arm variation)
11. Anderson

Kallis is doing well for South Africa, Prince, Amla and DeVilliers all made starts but fell relatively cheaply (Prince 45 made a decent score, but still not even a half century), but Kallis and Duminy have a nice partnership and South Africa look in a good position. Kallis looks set to make his 32nd test century, what a freak - it will make him equal fifth with Steve Waugh in most hundreds in a career. This guy has to be one of the best all rounders ever

and Kallis just got his century off 177 balls, I can go to sleep now:) ... but I might stay up for the last six overs of the night

What a knock from Jacques the great. Standing up when his team needs him most is what he does best and he produced the goods once again.

with cracked ribs too, the guy is a FREAK. When you look at his stats, he looks like he should be 2 people and you would select both of them

not sure that the 200 means much, but hopefully he'll get it one day - the guy's record is incredible regardless, and we shouldn't forget the physical and mental demands that come with the roles he plays.

All I want to say yet once again, South Africa would be bent over severely without Kallis

I am suprised that he has not already got one, he averages over 55, his strike rate is high yet his highest score is 189 not out and I am getting distracted by statistics, so I will post a link to his test career batting records summary

Yeah I doubt he'd give a sh*t about not having a double century. One of the few modern day all-rounders who doesn't get consistently injured.

Pietersen is batting uncharacteristically crappily today. Seffers are bowling pretty well today, but their bowling attack doesn't look anywhere near as good without Steyn or Kallis bowling

he looks like a kid, but he's 29, has been bowling really well in FC, but he is just filling in for Steyn. He has really good figures, in 45 FC games, 10 5 wicket hauls, 5, 4 wicket hauls, 23.35 average. He has done okay so far in his first test too, took his maiden wicket in the sixth over of the innings
