We were starting to get worse under Bennett in 2014 before he decided to move on.

Knights need to give someone new to NRL their start as coach. It just fits with their history and culture that someone could come in and grow with the team. They did it with players, so they could do it with coaches. And you can’t say there aren’t coaches out there in the Hunter region (or elsewhere) who couldn’t give it a red hot crack.

Rip Taylor will coach the season out at Kurri Kurri but will depart the Newcastle Rugby League club just one year into a three-year deal.
Interim Kurri Kurri president Daryl Chapman said the decision to part wayscame because it just simply "wasn't working out" amid another difficult year.
The Bulldogs remain winless and dead last in 2024, and have not won a game in more than two years.
Taylor, with one of the most successful coaching resumes outside NRL level, arrived at the club late last year and brought renewed hope with his experience and a long list of players he had previously coached to try and call upon.

From memory there was a big push from Roopy years ago to have him take over as coach after being quite successful in the lower grades.

We don’t know who runs what at present and it appears neither does anyone within the club. But what is fact is there are three people within the club now who are people of strong infleunce : Phil G, Peter O’Sullivan and Parr. Who actually is making these massive calls remains a mystery.
