That mightly knights FB group - They’re honestly the dumbest collective group of people I’ve ever heard before in my life. I had to unfollow it a long time ago.

They seem to equate a team filled with nothing but local juniors as the key for sure success because that worked for us in the late 90s/early 2000s…without seeing that it was because we had a golden generation of players all come through at the same time. We have Cogger/Crossland/Cant then instead of Johns/Buderus/Simpson and we win SFA but probably more spoons.
Its not even true. In our most successful years we still had a group of imports that were integral to the teams success

Looks like Kurt Mann might get an Origin debut. Watson and Barnet also Origin players now. King, Meany, Tom Starling, Ramien, Fermor, Kiraz, To'a, Clifford, Randall, Dom - all left and doing pretty good elsewhere. Not all of them because of AOB but a lot of them left and improved a ton and doing pretty well. Just putting it out there.

How by any measure is Dom "doing pretty good elsewhere"?

Oh and Meaney is average as

Mann is not Origin level. He is playing well under Ciro cos his role is simple. Tighten the middle and support the runners. He is benefiting from a quality group of hard workers being led to the top by generational talent in Critter. Chricton’s evolution is something to behold. IMO he is the best player in the game right now. To be able to influence a game as a roaming centre is not easy.

Crichton is a terrific big game player, but there are too many games where he does 4/5ths of nothing to consider him the very best player in the game. Not putting shit on him, his role is "big game match winner" and he has a winning impact in big games. But he's the icing on a very good cake at the moment. A lot of hard work goes in to making the cake.

For me the best player in the game right now is between Payne Haas and Nathan Cleary. As it has been for a few years. If you want to throw Mitchell Moses and Harry Grant's names in there too I wouldn't argue.

Omit Moses. Can’t argue with the others on the list. The stand out for me is Critter has emerged into a leader I never remotely thought he was. His team follow him into hell.

How long can his position be tenable when we keep dishing this up? Will Wests really sit us through a whole season of this and not even flinch?

Did anyone honestly think we'd be spoon contenders this year? Maybe the writing was on the wall last year with how shit our attack was then, and we've only managed to go further backwards this year.

I thought we’d be around 11th-14th.

They’ve exceeded my expectations.

Apparently not. One look at the comments on FB and you'd think having a team of "local boys who try hard" is more than enough for the masses. Our game attendance numbers appear to back it up
This is the correct answer to "Describe the entire history of the Newcastle Knights in one sentence...
