Last week did nothing. Nothing changed. They took a huge punt getting rid of DSaf when they did. We had to run really pure with middle forwards and we got f**ked at every turn instead. Another week we lost by 500m.

Having DSaf here, who was struggling off the bench for us before he left, wouldn’t have suddenly made AOB a competent coach.

Tbh the club has been poorly run as a whole, I’m curious where does Peter Parr sit in this mess?
AOB is a below average coach granted but the fact is we haven’t had a competitive reserve grade side for years, that’s not on AOB or at least not solely on him.

Oh I agree. It’s hard to get excited about anything around the club at the moment.

As erratic as he is the place would be a marketing nightmare without Ponga.

What actual coaching is going on week to week I wonder? Like after a performance like this does AOB double down and say “we need to work harder” or does he decide to change the game plan? Because so far we’ve been doing this just about every week then most of the time following it up with more of the same the week after. So are they paying AOB to just say the same thing each week? If that’s the case I’ll do it for half of what they’re paying him.

We've got a lot of plod in the forwards and as slots said it's only going to get worse. Good coaches generally get players playing above their ability though, or at least consistently to it, not below it.

Yeah it’s pretty crook. For the record I believe we have some very good young forwards coming through. We have at least 3 back rowers who are all capable of being good First Graders. The problem is they’re at least 12 months away from being up to FG at any consistent level.

2026 really could be diabolical but at least we seem to be working towards something. I’ll cop a rebuild (what’s this our 4th or 5th over the last 15 years) if we have some genuine hope on the other side.

As for Obi we just need to start fresh, meaning a coach from outside our current staff. Promoting from within would be a mistake imo.

I will actually look back at his tenure pretty fondly in retrospect if he goes soonish. He’s done more good than bad but he’s at risk of totally ruining what he’s achieved if we finish this year the way we’ve started.
